Trips to Amsterdam, they're like buses...
After a chat with the works concerning August Bank Holiday, it looks like I'm off to Amsterdam!
Shorter notice than I'd like, especially when it comes to flights...
Flying from Manchester is the only viable option for me, the coach from Liverpool would take waaay to long for just a weekend away (oh how I envy those in the South with easy(ish) access to Eurostar...)
At least the train to Manchester Airport is relatively inexpensive, especially compared to Airport taxis, and gets me there with a reasonable buffer for rail-related delays.
Looking at stopping at Generator Amsterdam in Oosterpark. Friend of mine raves about their London hostel, which is a good start, right...? Although, the fact it's only a 10 minute walk to het Ballonnetje is a massive upside in my book, plus I've never really explored Oost. Any recommendations out that way?
I have given myself a quest, linked here viewtopic.php?t=38856
Apart from that, it's 2 nights of chilling in the sun, prerequisite ride on the Smoke Boat and generally getting high. Only ever been to Amsterdam in the Autum/Winter, so it'll be interesting to see it in the sun. Can anyone recommend the best parks to chill in?
Lastly, if anyone is in town, let us know. After all, ours is a sociable sport.
Thank you all, happy blazing!

Hey @welshmans_beard
The Stud is a must when out in the east
I've also been in Coffeeshop Oost which is an Amsterdam Genetics place but seems to have a slightly different menu to the usual offerings. The Gumball I got from there last year was excellent for the price.
I've also been in Eastwood which seemed OK, I popped my head in Trefpunt so others don't have to - totally dead menu, probably be another Plug by next year lol speaking of which I think SpeakEasy is a Plug shop now
Regarding your quest, I think I had Peanut Butter Breath from Rookies but that was 2 or 3 years ago now. I'm over in a couple of weeks so I'll keep my heavily lidded eyes at least partially open for it
Have a great time!

Hi @HtN,
The Stud! I didn't even think about there, cracking shop! Only been there once back in '23, watched Ajax lose to Brighton in the Europa League. The regulars were livid but was still great craic, especially when they clocked I was wearing a Heerenveen shirt. Ngl it felt like a night down the local pub, just with smoke instead of booze. There's a guy there, can't remember his name but think he was the manager, proper First-Class Fella.
Will check out Coffeeshop Oost too. Don't get me wrong, Amsterdam Genetics' stuff is usually spot on but got sick a few years ago of schlepping to a rook of shops and them having the same menu, so started only visiting 1 or 2 per trip (usually just Tweede Kamer). But I'll definitely throw my head in on the prospect of variation.
As for the quest, I'd much appreciate any insights you can provide. With that said, we all know how easy it is to loose track of reality on an Amsterdam Adventure..
