After I ordered 2 grams of the Amnesia. (High I’m geeky and I’m an Amnesia addict. I’m having my own Geeky Amnesia Cup this trip- 5 already down and I’m sure I’ll get through at least two more today. Also, I totally typed that wrong, but I’m am really high at 7am, on Basjoe’s OG Kush and then Amnesia’s Acaulpoco Gold Haze. Yum.)

I asked to see the Super Silver G 18 (at 12 E/g top priced Sativa on the menu.)


Boerenjongen’s Super Silver G18

“What’s left of it,” he said, as he opened a tup with a scant 4-5 grams left in it, with 1-2 of those grams being loose shake.

“Is it worth it?” I asked.

“Oh yeah,” said the budtender in an adorable dutch accent. “That will fuck you up. I’ve been smoking for 25 years and I can’t smoke that and get anything done.”

(A side note about me is that ‘fuck’ is my favorite word. Ever. If you say fuck to me I will like you a hundred times better. And ‘fuck’ said with an adorable dutch accent is just...adorable.)

Smells like grape candy, cinnamon and clove cigarettes. Tastes like earthy spice on the inhale with a strong grape candy haze flavor on the exhale. Some silvery visual effects. Strong high and stone. Strong. It will totally fuck you up! (Not quite as strong as the OG 18 from Voyagers, but strong!) 12E/g I can see why this was almost sold out at 10:30 am. 9.2/10. A.


Boerenjongen’s AK47

I like AK 47. It’s a classic for me. At 8.50 E/g this is really nice for the money (as good as the AK 47 James had last year, which is very high praise from me.) Light grassy grapefruit aroma. Light flavor, hint of green papaya on the exhale. Bright, balanced, up but still more stoney than the super elevated high a modern haze gives you. Seems like I’ll like it mixed with hash- I’ll have to try that with the little bit left. 8.5/10. Good example of the strain. Good Value.

On the subject of “Amsterdam Problems,” I woke up Sunday morning with not very many good wake and bake weeds. Fortunately Marco just recently mentioned Hugo de Groot, which was near my apartment, so I headed over there and then to the grocery store to stock up for brunch. And I am so glad I did.


Hugo de Groot’s Amnesia Haze

It’s another place where the top-shelf weeds are 10E/g, and there are three of them right now, all looked and smelled top. There were also 5 –ish “Indicas” that were less expensive. The place looked nicer than I expected, and the gentleman budtender provided great service that was surprisingly cheerful at 10am on a Sunday. Served the best nugs from each tub, de-stemmed any large stems. And left with 3 choice grams for 30E. Also, looked better than I expected. Love the quiet clean residential neighborhood.


Hugo de Groot’s Amnesia Haze

This Amnesia Haze was really nice with a much more classic super fragrant lime candy and fresh pine smell. Great balanced high. Some body heaviness and an golden visual high. 9.5/10. A.

Put it in a pipe!

New York City Diesel, G-13 Haze, and Utopia Haze all looked really nice at Amnesia, and were passed on only for reasons of personal taste. The service here was excellent. When we explained to the male budtender that we were looking to stock up on a bit of variety he showed us all of his favorites, with nice brief descriptions that gave me a good sense for what was up. The scaling is always done in the open here as well, and he de-stemmed the large stems and picked choice buds for the grams.


Amnesia's Amnesia Potion

Amnesia Potion 45 E/g with a little under .5g's pictured. (Amnesia had 3 iso/concentrates, 2 indica 35E/g & 40E/g and this "sativa". I am an Amnesia monkey and since Voyagers didn't have the butter, and it didn't look like terminator was in...

Back to the Amnesia Potion. It is awesome. Not much smell. Slightly sweet floral taste. Super bright, warm, golden, strong elevating high. Still balanced. Awesome. Love it. 9.5/10.

I asked the really top, really helpful male budtender how to smoke it and he said “in a pipe.” And I asked if it could be added to a joint in small pieces and he said, "definitely don’t roll it. Smoke it in a pipe. Here, can I loan you a pipe to smoke it in."


Amnesia’s Acapulco Gold

Acapulco Gold(14E/g)- Pleasantly herbal and savory in a Sativa world currently dominated by sweet hazes. Smells like coriander, sweet peppers and fruity olive oil. No lie. Warm high nicely balanced, warm face, sunny happy effect. Not the strongest, but lovely and unique. Won some sort of Sativa Cup recently. I can see why. 9.5/10. A.
