I visited this place in May 2012, after sightseeing most of the day in Haarlem. I'm writing this review several months late only because I couldn't remember the name of it, but with the help of FBN recently, I located it on the map and found the name. On the day we visited, my friend and I were looking for the closest CS to the Grote Markt, and we stumbled upon this gem, not knowing anything about it beforehand. We got a gram of Cheese, then each had a coffee. Because we purchased the weed, which was 11E, the budtender kindly didn't charge us for the hot beverages. The smoke was sensational, felt pretty high. It was late afternoon, and first smoke of the day, so that may have helped, too. When we got there, the shop was empty, but then it started to fill up with locals, mostly guys between the ages of 20-30. They were all psyched up about the upcoming Euro 2012 tournament which was just days away from starting. The Orange Crush didn't fare too well in the tournament, but fortunately, I didn't see these guys in the aftermath of that
I'm not sure how this shop compares now with the way it was run by the previous owners, but there was room in there for 10-15 people, because that's how many were there when we left. It didn't seem too crowded.
If you haven't been to Haarlem, go. You won't regret it. It's beautiful, charming and as others have noted extensively on this website, the weed isn't bad either. And it's close to Amsterdam. Just get on the train and go!

Did a day trip to Haarlem and stopped in here on the way to the Grote Markt and St. Bavo. I got the white widow and orange bud which were fairly cheap (8 EU, I think). Both were just ok, with the orange bud being slightly better than the ww. The shop did have a nice vibe and I enjoyed hanging out there both before, and after, all the sightseeing.

We went in here on a Friday night and there were a few people smoking and socialising but as its mainly a small buy and fly place I can hardly call it busy. We were only popping in for a prerolled spliff before finding a restaurant. but i decided to buy a little whist there for the hospitality. I walked up to the counter which is behind a glass window and ordered a gram of their most expensive hash, some kind of named Polom but i cant for the life of me remember the word they used ???? Polom €12. There is next to no seating but the four of us were able to grab a corner and blaze up.
I did not smoke any of the hash for a few days, it was not bad, pliable with a floral bouquet when being broken apart, it was still sticky but you could pop it in the grinder with some skunk and it broke up nicely. When smoking, the taste was nice, with a reasonable stone. Overall a good clean Moroccan a decent smoke but there is better out there, cheaper too if you know where to look.
If your in Haarlem centre and just fancy a quick smoke you could do far worse than pop in here, but make the effort and head to birdies

Hyi Polom 1g €12: I really only used this shop because it was there, its not exactly a comfy place to smoke etc. I asked again for their top end hash, it was ok but not worth the €12 so I was glad that he only charged me €9. A pleasant smoke, but nothing special, a medioca stone, functional for a day time smoke. If I choice to stop by next time I am in Haarlem then I will be trying some of the weed, but there is not a great deal on the menu that stands out.

Join Us have closed this permanently it seems, quite sad, was my favourite when living in haarlem 20years ago and working the tulip factories nearby.
Join Us have another shop on Schalkwijkerstraat 23. It is lovely, huge and bright with big comfy furniture everywhere, and big TVs to mong at. Beats most Dam establishments for effort and comfort.
Tried the amnesia, claimed to be tested at 22%. On a sunday you get 15% off, so 5g of this excellent sample for 42.50 is lekker.
Most expensive weed was strawberry kush at 11.50. They also knock 10% 5g deals but the sunday offer applies to any permitted weight.
Menu pic to cum...

Looked like the original Join Us was back open when I went past this week (didn't go in). At the same time I noticed the other Join Us on Schalkwijkerstraat was closed, even after mid-day.

Went by today to the original location on Smedestraat where Theehuis was - fully boarded up with renovation signs! Which location did you go to last week?

On a Saturday eve the one on Schalkwijkerstraat seemed like the place for the local "hangjeugd"... plus too many large tv-screens, too modern and cold interieur, unrelaxed atmosfere, personally didn't feel comfortable and welkom there. For me not the place for a nice, chilled session. Bud-Counter at the entrance was sheltered behind glass with small, lousy intercom speaker. So could hardly understand the young budtendress that seemed not to know what she's selling (and why and whatfor and where...

) and didn't catch what I was after... at least staff was quite friendly and quality was ok.

Thought it was the one on Smedestraat we were walking down that street to get to the Empire (last Thursday evening I think that was) and there it was on the corner dunno it just looked open for business, people in there etc, wheras Join Us 2 was shut with notices in the windows when I went past.

Actually, thinking about it (with egg on face) reckon I've mistaken the snackbar further down the street and also on a corner, for Theehuis. Sorry guys
