have to be honest, was a little off with the only visit made here in 2009... that said... it was definitely unique and was obviously a cherished part of the coffeeshop scene. never a good day when you lose a coffeeshop... there are so precious few. i am truthful when i say, Sanementereng will be missed. :( :(

I have an inside scoop on this one ;-).. I think "Sanementering will be back after the building is renovated..The owner is a new "Work Associate" for me.. and yes she is very nice.. Her antiques are in the same gallery as the Uke boutique, you could say we share a bit of space at De Looier..

I only visited this shop once last summer, so I do hope it re-opens as it was unique..and so close to work!

I'll keep you updated if and when as she knows about ACD.. and there is much work to do if it does come back.... Boy does this woman have stuff..... and it is all for sale..

I'm scheduled to be back in Amsterdam in May 2012. What are the chances that Sanementereng will reopen by then?

Hate to see this shop go, I spent a couple hours smoking and chilling here and lookin at her stuff last March..
Tutti: Thats some good news. I have 18 booths I rent in antique malls similar to DeLooier, been selling antiques mostly carnival glass for 18 years, so as a fellow junk purveyor I hope she does re-open soon.

hello.
visited last week to find the coffeeshop closed. through the window you could see that the place had been completed stripped to concrete floor and 4 walls - empty!
shame, this was my families favourite coffeeshop for the last 8yr. lady budkeeper and her ghanian husband and the locals were all really friendly -when you get to know them. the most relaxing shop in amsterdam, ive even fell asleep there a few times. was well looked after, they often foned me a taxi home.
i always asked the budkeeper what she would reccommend from the menu and was never let down.
i hope they open back up soon.
i asked her husband what sanamentereng meant, he said there is a place in his homeland that is beautiful called sanamanter, when he thought about this place he was 'sanamentering'
i guess im sanamentereng-eng!
