Eh,if you are really worried re Amsterdam then just contact the Mayor,there is a lot of disinformation on this thread,if you need his contact e-mail,tel no, address,I suggest you find that info for yourself,when you do just ask him,this is always a great learning experience,you can also contact the police and other officials,why not even try the tourist board,then when you are over in the Dam ask about in shops and restaurants,the Dam is the Dam, the rest of Holland is a different matter,so stop being lazy and get off of your butt and ask.

Quite interesting to see how many posters include this in trip reports,very few,either they don't care or it is really not an issue.

Ok I had a brainstorm. So far i have only heard that the weedpass is going to be for only dutch. That the tourists will not be able to enter a coffeeshop as it will be members only. No one has said tourists won't be tolerated carrying weed. So in my eyes this means theoretically tourists can still carry and smoke weed and be tolerated, just they are not allowed to be in a coffeeshop. So could he coffeeshops make like a drive thru/ buy and fly? Where one could purchase cannabis from and then take to a smoker friendly bar? as I see it I would only need a pass if I wanted to go into a coffeeshop to buy weed and smoke it. Since i won't be allowed, does he new law state, that I must have membership to enter premises? or membership to buy weed/hash? (does it include hash in the wording?) Does it state that cannabis can't be sold to non members if they aren't inside the members only coffeeshop?

Update: April 29th 2012,

Last Friday's decision from the Dutch Court has put the Weed Pass in official effect in the 3 southern Dutch provinces (Limburg, Brabant, Zeeland). Tourists can't buy anymore and the Dutch have to register to be able to buy.

If the High Court doesn't undo this decision that will mean that the Weed Pass will go into effect for the rest of Holland on January 1st 2013. Whatever will happen with the Courts, there is a lot of resistance from various (big) cities. The mayors fear that the illegal trade on soft-drugs will increase as a result of the member registration policy and also the decrease in income from Cannabis Tourists. It is not known what the Mayors will do and if the Weed Pass will be enforced in many Dutch cities.

The newly proposed 15% THC law is currently just a concept law that still has to be discussed and approved by the Dutch Parliament.

When new information on these subjects comes in, we will update it on the site!

So no more cancelations of trips now please! It's business as usual for at least another few months, but if you were planning on an Amsterdam trip, do it this year!

Was in dam lAst weekend and had no problems what so ever all coffeeshops open and selling as usual

Would be a shame as the only thing letting dam down is the drunken idiots shouting their mouths off and pissing in the street in front of women and

Cheers guys... I'll hopefully be able to follow my nose and score some decent hash over there... I've never had a problem tracking down some weed on holiday and i've been told that the Costa Del Sol is a gateway for all kinds of Moroccan delights... I'm staying in La Carihuela, which is the calmer bit in between Torremolinos and Benalmadena(as featured on "Costa del Street Crime"!!!), so i'll be asking a lot of waiters a lot of awkward questions... Just hoping the weather stays crappy here so i can enjoy the break a little more

...If i find anything good, i'll let you all know.
