I suppose the encouraging signs at the moment is that the coalition government has collapsed. Maybe some common sense can prevail. Really Holland is the model for tollerance that people like myself have always looked up to and hoped more places would follow the example. If this all goes through what chance do we have.

Im of the belief that the economy is rigged, and the collapse we are seeing around the world, and in particular right now in Greece, and soon Spain is all rigged. Say this theory is correct, and at some point down the line you want a collapse in Holland, then banning tourists from getting high in Amsterdam sure would be an effective step.

Just saying "I think it's rigged" ain't a theory.

The weed pass goes more in the pharma control section imo. Good to see that some are in doubt and start to ask questions though. Cognitive dissonance anybody?

i say this thing of DW and some other euro tv chanel that in Masstricht and other city in the south are having big problem whit the weed pass most shop are closing down and the ones still open having problems selling...one shop was talks about 4000 ppl less buying dope in the city shops cause out of 5000 ppl each day visiting the city or the shop around town were belgium and other tourists ..they wanna sue the government for the lost!! thats in the south imagine the money they would lose if ban come in power in Amsterdam?! be losing Zilions of $$ each day....

I read somewhere that Maastricht are having so many problems with the street dealers that they want the Wietpas abolished. I believe even the Mayor is now coming round to that way of thinking.

The street dealing has increased for sure but if this artical is to be beleived then the mayor does not see this as a problem....well a manageable problem at most and it makes no mention of him wanting to revoke the "weedpass" at all, and this story is only just over a week old, of course he could of changed his mind since then.

Maybe im wrong here but Maastricht doesnt really seem to no what it wants to do, over the past 10 years+ the subject of a "weedpass" has arose from time to time, most of the time from Maastricht i think the idea even originated from there (tell me if im wrong on that one). One moment they want it then the next moment they dont want it. Im may be wrong on this but it is what ive noticed over the past 10 or so years.

Im kinda of clinging on to the hope that with stats like street dealing increasing by 200% and the inevitable loss of tourist revenue will persuade the bigger cities to not enforce the weed pass as it will be even worse for them, can u imagine what the RLD in Amsterdam will be like. The job loss in fast food venues, restaurants, hotels etc will be huge something i cant see these Mc big buisness' laying down for.

I think if i am wrong though and the weedpass does come in nationwide then it wont last longer than a couple of years, of course how many coffeeshops will be left after that is anybody's guess.

I've been to Amsterdam 27 times. I truly enjoyed it, it's a great city.

I don't think you have the guts to fight them anymore. This was a weak government that didn't even have a simple majority in Parliament, and you're caving in to them. The Amsterdam way of life will die, because your European society was ashamed of 'drugs' and wanted millionaires instead of thinkers and backpackers.

Do you remember what it was, to stand up for your rights? I am sorry to sound so cold. If you could fight them, tens of thousands of people would be protesting in the streets.

You will become another boring European country. Like Poland, or Latvia. I'm not sure that you've thought about the tears, the thousands of young souls whom are being told they will be arrested. In this world, the coffeeshops are irreplaceable. There is not a country on Earth that will ever allow selling drugs in a licensed establishment again. The wietpas reads like a document of ethnic, European supremacy.

I am surprised and dismayed by your weak effort. In the past, you managed to fight tough talking politicians.

Marijuana smoking is not a consumption issue, it is a civil rights issue. We will never come to Europe again. There was a time, when the thinking was different.

Never come to Europe again because of the actions of the Dutch government? Not visiting an entire continent because of something happening in one country within it. Almost as small minded as the weedpass itself.

I doubt that anybody could be so stupid... looks more like they receive 'donations' for pushing the pass. Hard to turn down a few millions. Just look at what the major of Maastricht was saying after the pass got introduced. Do you really believe he couldn't see what's happening? Imho he keeps pushing the pass because he already got payed a part of his bribe...
