I'll keep getting FEBO now i've tried it the Kroketen thing was toast topperish ok , burgers were alright .
Filled a gap.

I don't understand why anyone would go to FEBO when you have McDonald's and Burger King, which are the shit of the shit, as well as plenty of doner kebab places around the dam.

Febo is the worst. Had it on my last trip in 2007 and almost gagged.

I can understand much of the confusion here...

1st off, let's get this straight - it ain't fine dining.

For me the best food in Amsterdam is to be found at BurgerBar.nl - hands down, no contest winner...

... But - there are some things that Febo sell that I just cannot resist - the rundvleeskrokets are fantastic - I don't know nor do I care what's inside them - all I know is they fill a gap where many others fail. McDonalds has never been able to impress me with anything other than their shakes, Burger King... ditto.

To be fair, if I want a burger, I'll go to a real place - hmmm... oh yes, BurgerBar!

If I want a shake, I'll probably go to one of the finer coffeeshops that sell these delights...

If I want fries, then it has to be Vlaamse all the way!

But if I want to be able to walk straight in, pop a € into a slot and receive a tasty treat in less than a second? FEBO.

I tried a burger there once, wasn't impressed. The chicken? Hmmm. Nah.
Kaassoufflé - not bad, and quite harmless to the digestion...

But the krokets, ice creams and shakes are all well worth the visit IMHO...

(Plus, there's a Febo straight over the road from where I usually stay!)

It's a damn sight cheaper than the "big boys" like McD, BK etc. as well, and carries no pretentions towards being anything other than what it is... Cheap, accessible fast food, that opens very late at night.

I won't touch much of the "food" on offer around the streets of Amsterdam these days - the 3-day old dried out pizza slices for the unsuspecting tourists, alongside the dodgy doner/shwoarma kebab type places have lost their charm - or more likely, I now know where decent food can be procured without risk to either stomach contents or wallet!

Melb-dam-lover - I've had stuff from Febo that would make my insides turn, but like most places - there's stuff you like and there's stuff you don't! Try a few things and you may be pleasantly surprised - for example, the rundvlees- and kalfsvlees- krokets I found to be very agreeable, but the Satékroket just didn't sit right with me.

At least Febo has a certain authenticity to it! I'd rather eat that than the big chain shite stuff...

At the end of the day, if you want healthy food that's nutritious, then you'll be looking elsewhere anyway - After a few tries, you'll find your way to the nicer sandwich places and cafes for the real dutch experience - but for quick, stoner-satisfying munchies at a real budget price... it has to be Febo.

Dave, has this got anything to do with the notion that virtually nothing in Febo contains a garnish of lettuce, tomato or red onion? hmmm.

Besides, I have tomato ketchup on stuff - and TWICE at burgerbar there was a scrap of lettuce on my plate next to the frites!!

Helps soak up the grease I guess, and keeps yer fingers from getting burnt. Also provides a ledge on which to slather mayonnaise and/or butter. Or maybe they think yer not getting yer carbs...

Ive been there before!

A better version of FEBO, for sure. They also have lots of deli meats and sandwiches aswell. But their croquets are very good. Also try the "Bitterballen" style.

i got a febo last time i was there! avoided it first 2 times but when i was on business trip it was next to hotel and i was on munchies after some super chocolope!!

Febo scares the life out of me .

Well lads, when you have feck all money and short lunch break, I'm standing by the FEBO krokets as the cheapest and most filling thing to get before you have to run. They wouldn't be my first choice, but they're nice enough, and the price is epic.

When I was there just after the 420 vs volcano match, they'd actually dropped the prices of the krokets down to just €1 from €1.40 - I think this may have been for the Queensday festivities, but it made a welcome cheap snack even cheaper. Can't be bad.

Michelin 5 star it isn't, but anyone with higher expectations either shouldn't be in there or has consumed way too much weed!!
