Thinking of taking a walk around the zoo while in town , is it worth a couple hours visit ?

not been there yet myself but as i understand you could easily spend the day at ARTIS. there's an aquarium, a planetarium, gardens and two museums in addition to the zoo element. have heard good things and would like to go some time.

good excuse to check out Het Ballonnetje too yup.

I found the Zoo to be a great experience, spent a good 4 hours or so in there last June. Its all crammed into the space of about 3 blocks, so you cant miss out on any of the enclosures. ( I posted a shit load of pictures on here, have a little dig around )I did think the Lepoard looked very sad though, kinda like he just wanted to run, and run, and run........but couldnt
I never made it to Het Ballonjte (sp) but Overkant Hortus and Greenhouse Namaste are quite close too.

Many great times spent around the zoo and yes it is worth the few hours needed to visit.
I will agree with Twichaldinho about the leopard and many of the other Animals also look like the need more space. But the place over the last few years has been being improved all the time.
Worth the visit most definately, i probably have more pics form visits here than any othe place i have visited.
Be warned though you do get alot of kids about especialy during school time.
Enjoy :)

The zoo is quite strange but okay,

you will notice that several of the animals do not look comfy and should be in a bette place

you will notice some strange animals
cross bread

its worth a visit but costs 18euros and lacked in something...

i will not visit again as some of the animals looked sad

animals always look sad in zoos tbh. most zoos nowadays are going through a modernisation process and improving habitats so deserve support. Zoos play a big part in conservation effort not only by keeping animals species but through research.

i sorta found some of the animals enclosures to be a bit small and some of the animals to be a bit sad.

to be honest i didnt think it was that good of a zoo... however im not to fond of animals being locked up behind cages and whatnot... but the artis zoo was definetely not a high end zoo like some of the ones i have been to before.

just my opinion.. its always fun to see animals while stoned so check it out for yourself.. just dont expect huge enclosures and lots of space for the animals.
