7 hour layover in the Dam... Any ideas?

Post by bostonmessiah »

A buddy and I are headed to Madrid and have a 7 hour layover (purposely planned) in Schiphol on the 20th.. We planned on taking a train from the airport to Centraal Station. What do you recommend we hit up in that area before we have to make it back to the airport for our connecting flight?

you can walk down haarlemmerstraat from central, a lot of coffeeshops there... but with 7 hours time you will make it to wherever you want to go, if you use the tram!

A perfect amount of time...

Wow...that will be a perfect amount of time to have some fun in Amsterdam!

So, when you get to Schipol take the train to Centraal Station. If there is not a long line go to the ticket counter, it can take less time and frustration than using the vending machines. But if you do use the machines make sure you have some Euro on you (we have never had a lot of luck using our card in one).

Once you get to Centraal Station head outside. You should make sure you have a decent map (i'm sure you have been looking at one already). Personally, with that amount of time I wouldn't go too far from the station though. A mile covers a lot of area there at least. First, head down the Damrak to the Palace. You might want to plan out before you leave which shops you want to find, and how to get there. Our first stop on all of our trips has been Route 99.

Don't get too stoned though (easy to say, hard to do) and give yourself a couple hours to be back at the airport

What time during the day is ur layover? As Amsterdam is very different at night, although i would still say go to as many coffesshops as u can and if it is dark then take a stroll through the red light district :)

Sometimes a trek through the airport when you feel too fucked to talk to anybody can be terrible...but as soon as you make it to your small airplane seat, your body will be thanking you. I like it because although it may have been hard to get through security and everything super stoned, it's pretty funny.

Smoke, smoke, smoke. eat a 'space' edible or two if you can handle, then smoke, smoke, smoke. Get your ass to your plane.

Find out address of accommodation in Madrid, buy weed, buy ziploc, buy jiffy bag. You get the idea.

Siick.. thanks for the recommendations.. I get there at 8am so perfect way to start my day is heading out to the coffee shops... Anyone know what the deal is if I wanted to take some space cake with me to Madrid? Is that a poor idea packing it in my luggage? I would imagine its against the law...

keep the spacecake in your carry on along with a sandwich/chips and you'll be fine...
i'm sure you'll be able to find some great maroc hash in madrid. i just walked into a park and saw some african men dressed in native garb and had a table set up selling pipes & artifacts. i asked for something to fill the pipe and was immediately hooked up!
don't panic...smoke some organic....

Im pretty sure wont have any trouble finding some nice hash in Madrid, even if it means talking to some street sellers in the touristy parts.

And just eat your edibles before you get on the plane so your feeling nice by the time your in Madrid.

Have a great time!

btt: in madrid, think sometimes you´ll have to explain that you are not satisfied with sand and stuff like that in the hash. BUT they have really good stuff too
