Cannabis and Citalopram

Post by Sir Niall of Essex-sire »

Anyone had experiences with combining these two things? My old old old smoking buddy recently got back in contact with me and after spending a night crashing at ours he was taking a 10mg dose in the mornings to deal with his G.A.D. I of course am wanting to fire up a doobie or two with him but dont want it to interfer too much with his meds, anyone had any experience with this?

I dont think there should be any negative affect combining with an anti-depressant, not familiar with that particular one but its an SSRI and it shuldnt be an issue.

I've toked my brains out long term and been on SSRIs so....

Cannabis will probably help an Anxiety Disorder but if it did cause any issues it would be short-term anxiety which would pass when the stone wears off. Or your friend will know himself if its having a minor negative effect.

I am not sure if it would be contra-indicated.

My guess is that there might be no problems.

However, anyone with a mental illness should use caution when taking any psychoactive substances like booze, weed, etc.

Did this person experience anxiety/panic attacks when using cannabis in the past? If so, then I would not get them high.

wheres InDaPark-Spliff? I once took a prozac with him and then got sooo high from like 2 joints. I'd say it intensifies the high... but I'd guess being on meds long term is diff to just taking one

Cheers for that colin, it seems alot of the online info and doctors info seem to say the same thing.

I.G yea he occansionly got a bit panicy when high. But he's always been a bit of the worrier of the group and its not a paranoid panic attack. He says its ' internalised ' from that i guess he means he panics when he thinks something is going wrong with his health.

Cheers for the replies people.
