Hello, I will be in AMS on Sept 4th and it's been recommended that I head down towards haarlemerstraat to experience some relaxed coffeeshops. I am wondering if any members or other newbies will be in the area.

Yes, Only one night/day. Flying with NW airlines/KLM I was able to arrange the stopover!
