Cheese

Post by cheese »

was just looking through and was wondering what peoples recommendations are for places to buy some cheese.. not the smoke but the food. so yeah what are the best cheese shops in your opinion.

also what are peoples favorite types of cheese to purchase in amsterdam.

my fav is definetely the mild or medium gouda. i can eat it alone, on a sandwhich, with some crackers .. just about anyway it can enter my mouth.

i tend to bring home a 3 pack of gouda from this store off the rembrantplein. 1 circle of cheese is just gouda, the other is onion gouda and the third pepper gouda maybe? ... they seem to go over very well at home.

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese

Don't know what it was called but I had some lovely stuff the other week, quite mature and it had little crystals of salt all through it as well. Was bloody yummy.

3 year old is a little too old for me, and I'm an old cheese lover.
Look for gerijpt or oud cheese.

some of my favorite post smoking events is to wander around the streets of amsterdam and stop into one of the wonderful dutch cheese shops and taste a few varieties before buying a nice chunk of my favorite taste. usually end up scoring a nice loaf of bread and drink of choice and hello lunchtime!!
i even buy a few wheels in the airport to bring home each time. great breakfast treat for the family...
don't panic...smoke some organic....

Whats Gouda cheese like? Whats it texture like?

I'm normally quite fussy about what cheeses I like.
I love cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, grurye..

Hate brie, blue cheese, cmambere or whatever it is, philadephia and those types..

But I have had smoked cheese from Dam before. Was lovely. Plan to get some more and a baguette for the hotel man, munchies! Shit not sure if that will work I don't have a fridge in my hotel room.

Can anyone point out some cheese shops where you can sit there and eat if you want?
