hi all im off to the dam on the 16 oct. and was going out there to have a look at work and flats as well as my leisure (lol) now i read a post by a guy from new zeleand and he was finding it hard to get a job and a flat because he was from nz and on a visa and to get a job u need ur tax code but to get ur code u need an address this is where he found it tricky as he coulnt get an address becauce landlords want to know about ur employer which he didnt have as her didnt have tax code anyway my point is would this be any different coming from the eu as u dodt need a visa

would be grateful for any advise on this

If you're an EU citizen,then you're ok to move to any EU Country...The only necessity is to report that you're living there within 14 days ? i think...some one will know more...I'm looking into it myself...

thanks for the info and link darkglobe still studying at the mo in scotland but oncew qualified after this year im looking to go out there as sumthing like a social worker great eh social worker who takeas a smoke but thats the great thing about holland i suppose cause any12 can have a smoke without bieng discrimanated against where u wouldnt get away with that here so again thanks hope ur plans work out as well

I'd imagine you'd have to speak dutch to do a job like social worker over there.

Well, it is not common to work when stoned...
Anyhow, you need to speak (basic) Dutch for a job. Excluding working at tourist places.

There are some companies and workplaces that do not require you speak dutch. They might be few and far between but they do exist. There are even some employment agencies that specialize in non-dutch speaking jobs. Some companies actually advertise for people that speak foreign languages; ie German, French, etc. It never hurts to try.

Thanks all who replied been looking into a few things already . and already know a little dutch still learning but i also know myself by speaking to other english speaking pplm out there that there is plenty of jobs that need fluint english speakers specially in at the central area in fact spoke to 2 different ppl working there now for well 1 10 years and the others 25 and they both still only know basi dutch and have managed no probs but ur right 4 the job i want i would need to have at least more than basic dutch under my tongue and boy its a hard language to master anyway thanks again for the advice much appreciated
