Not to bring you down but...

Why do you want to speak Dutch in order to see a menu?

I've found that unless you're fluent and your pronuncation is good speaking Dutch is really not going to gain you any extras.

If you're into learning Dutch for the sake of learning it then plesae disregard my comments. If you're thinking that speaking Dutch is necessary to accomplish seeing the menu then you needn't worry about it.

IMO, a person comes off more like a "Tourist" to attempt to speak Dutch in a nonfluent fashion rather than just being upfront and asking to see the menu in English.

Goed Luck regardless!

not all of us do things just to gain extras. guessing thats just how u yanks think. I wanted to know just 4 my personal knowledge.

IMO, a person comes of like a " jerk" when they are sitting on their high horse.

GOED luck yourself

Obviously you took my post as some type of slam. I apologize if my wording was off.

Here's an excerpt from my original post to this thread.

Was simply trying to share an experience that I thought might be of some use to you. Sometimes written words come across differently than when they're spoken.

Learning Dutch for the sake of learning it is great! As I said before, I apologize if my wording came off other than the way it was intended. Definitely not trying to be on ANY type of "high horse".

Something else you might want to know for your personal knowledge...not all "yanks" think alike. If you were offended by a generalization why did you use one in your defense?
