it's legal if you're royalty or big business in the uk as it's a home office licence thats the hard bit to get......lets just wait a while as the way they are driving us there will be nothing for them to get revenue from...less and less tobacco revenue, less drink revenue as pubs shut and we get enforced healthy lifestyles,no-one will drive due to rising fuel costs....after all that what's left?....tax on cannabis?.....it's what the californian lot are aiming for so why not?.....wave the pound signs infront of enough politicians......

It would be good to see action in this area.

My personal feeling is if the country had 20+ shops open as 'secure' as the one in Lancing, then a large amount of publicity would be generated by the authorities reaction.

As a youngster I used to regularly visit a great coffeeshop in Hanley Stoke called Dreadheads. It was open for about 5 years in the nineties. The owner wrote to the then home secretary and the local police force to say that they would be opening. The local police stressed only two rules for 'tolerance', no dealing and no prostitution (the place was smack bang in the middle of hookers road). It was a successful daytime and night time place. Always would stay open throughout Friday and Saturday nights and was an amazing place to chill after the clubs had closed, fantastic atmosphere. Unfortunately the owner became an utter coke head (the success of the place went to his head a bit I think) and a knob along side of it. After some bad decisions he made the local police force had no choice really but to close the place down. It was a real loss... I can remember smoking in there one afternoon when the local beat bobby, popped in through the front door. You have never seen so many panicked looking stoners in your life! He was dead cool though, chatted to the owner, tipped his ht at us all and left! Brilliant.

More recently I was taken to a coffeeshop in London. Fantastic location, you would never know its there, but a huge warehouse sized couple of rooms. Unfortunately it was a private club and I had to be signed in by a member. Run by a load of Moroccans that had only one rule, you weren’t allowed to smoke "skunk". They sold lovely cheap, clean Moroccan hash, and mint teas for a £1! Pool table, pinball machines... Beautiful place!

I used to think it would be legalised in England in my lifetime, i cant see it now. England was heading towards a more liberal society, its unfortantly gone more conservative, and at the same time more suceptable to media influences i think. If they are looking to ban legal highs, then that should be an indication of the attitude to getting high on anything the powers at be deem to be immoral.

As far as the coffeeshops in England go, i dont know about them being still around, tbh this is the first ive head of them being about still. I was sure most of them were closed except the one in Lancing ( i think ) but the websites down as previously said and thats usually not a good sign. The cannabis community will have to mobilize ALOT more before these are open again across the country. After all why run the risk when public support is not shown by those who wish to see it happen on a large scale.
