pqrticulqr sents??

Post by X »

hey all,
I was just wondering... many people talk about "scents" when it comes down to different weeds.. I'm not a huge connaisseur because I drive up to Holland only when 2 or 3 friends can do it with me so its about once every other months.. and every time I go I usually buy my personal favourites: Northern Lights, or Super Skunk..

I was curious to know if special breeds have characteristic scents.. like I bought some Master Kush (which is approx. 80% Indica the bar tender-ess said) last time I went and if I had to describe the smell it was a very fruity citrus/wild berry scent.. Northern Lights (which is also a strong indica) smells that way also.. which leads me to think most indicas do..

so I guess the more Indica a breed is, the more citrusy/wild berryish the smell will be..? or do you guys know any variables to this trend? is it completely wrong..?

how about sativas? any recurring smells with them?

last question for those who know:
I'd like 1 or 2 names of weeds that are very much Sativa (I know most of the "Hazes" are but if anything else..)

thanks for your answers
Scott.

All weeds have different terpenoid profiles, which means that they all have different smells. There is no hard-set rule such as all indicas are citrus/fruity, as the plants are bred and cross-bred for their scent as well as their highs which means you can have sativas with citrus tastes, indicas with pine taste, sativa-indicas with earth taste. Its different for every species. It can even express differently between plants of the same species as the method of growth (medium, types of ferts, etc) can cause the plant to express different terpenoids.

Very good point Stygian23 and you can also have plants with very little odor and still get you messed up, like Northern Lights, Hardly any smell, but a real killer. AzLaker 8)

I got some Sour Diesel tonight. The stuff stinks soooo bad that the whole ride home I kept getting strong whiffs of it from my shirt pocket. The first thing I do when I get home is roll that thing up into a nice little cone and start to puff. All of a sudden my landlord is yelling my name and I go outside to see what he wants. "What the hell is that smell?" Suddenly it dawns on me I forgot to take any precautions (no towels under the door, no ventilation fan, no deodorizers, nothing). I give a show of sniffing around, shrug my shoulders and he goes back inside his portion of the house mumbling under his breath. When I walked back into my place I am assailed by a thick stench. Not good. The moral of this story is always double check your shit before lighting up if you don't own your property. Whistle.

How about Kali Mist or Silver Pearl bio? The Silver Pearl bio is about 30% indica but has to be my favorite to start the day as it gives me a real "up" kind of high. :D

Kinda ressurecting the dead here, but I'm in work - it's 0240 and I've got 'til 0740 before I can flee this place to get some sleep...

Anyways, I would completely agree Az... yet to make the trip to 'dam but my girlie came home with about a half quarter (3.5g) of green for me about a month ago, her uncle bought it and sent some down the human chain for me... she doesn't smoke so it was a pressie... anyways, rambling on a bit ... the point being, it looked like crap, had a weak scent to it... but tasted delicious and also took the face right off me, I mean completely... this shit had BITE!

Not a morning smoke by any accounts, grocery shopping after a J of this and you'd end up coming home with a garden gnome, a pair of tights, some chewing gum and some new friends
