my opinion comes from being a ps3 and 360 owner. i got the ps3 because i was getting a bluray player and decided that i may as well get one that plays games too. 
my ps3 doesn't get used much except for blurays..and yes i have planet earth and yes its fantastic. xbox 360 is a better overall game consol though. if it had went with bluray instead of the failed hd dvd xbox would be the clear winner.
