Hi guys, I'm coming at Xmas with some friends to Amsterdam (4th time, great city, loving it). I would like some information about a rumour I've heard. The rumour says that from the 1st of January 2010, there 're gonna be only 2 coffeeshops left in Amsterdam, and they 're gonna sell stuff only to local citizens! First of all, is it true? And secondly, what's the situation right now with the coffeeshops and the red light district? ? Thank you very much guys, I hope the city remains untouchable from this "right wing" government!

As I'm new in the forum, I haven't seen that there are a lot of comments about this matter. I read them now. Well, if anybody can give me a clear answer (as much as possible), it would be very helpful! [Maybe I should have posted in the news :P]

Welcome to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.

A few of the border cities have closed their coffeeshops to rid themselves of drug tourists, mainly from Belgium, France, and Germany.
You will do just fine in Amsterdam. Coffeeshops will be open for business and the RLDs will still have love for sale.

Enjoy

yes mate it's all still there :) ...for now. Maybe five years down the line things will be different. So go whilst you still can, and enjoy.
