Cheapest Bad in Town?

Post by Dobern »

Wanting a bed for myself and 2 mates sometime in Feb. Extremely tight budget however, so looking for the cheapest place possible to stay.

Not really fussed if the place is a bit rough or whatever, as it's just gonna be used for a few hours kip in the early hours every day. Will be out and about most of the day.

Thanks in advance,

Dobern

Now looking at the White Tulip hostel. Seen the previous thread where it's taken a bit of a battering, however the reviews on hostelbookers seem pretty favourable.

Anyone got any updates or further info on this place?

Isn't that quite a way from the centre though? I'm not too clever with navigating the tram system off my face. Usually ends up in a more expensive taxi from an unintended point.

im always off my face tram 14 from dam square to flavorpark 10-15 mins
must admit its always better to stay in town but got a 2 man cabin 3 nights 90 euros. looked for cheap hotels they seemed to be 110 single 170 for twin. hostels are worth a go but but we had to share with 4 nutters off their faces on mushroom and who knows what else, wouldnt do it again

Maybe 60-65 euros (all in) for a 4 star double room in the centre.

Seriously considering the White tulip hostel. 13E a night. It's only somewhere for a few hours kip a day anyway.

i've just booked hotel clemens 4 nights single room breakie inc £145mind you it's 18 jan so it's cheapest rate but still cheap imo,as far as i'm concerned if it has an openable window it's smoker friendly, and i'm struggling to find a bad review but i'm just about to look at hotel section on here.

To each their own. And if you are happy with a small single room in a 2 star for $61 USD a night then I am happy for you. That does seem expensive though for a 2 star single in what should be a very quiet time period hotelwise.

For $15-$25 more a night I would be staying in a 4 star double room.

Then I am long past dealing with the stairs you will find at the Clemens

Good Luck

Sorry millweed, but it was not meant to be sarcastic.

In fact I do hope things work out for you.

Although I doubt that you have pre paid for your room and could cancel if you wanted. The advice was actually for others who may be thinking about staying in AMS and are wondering what a good value is.

In truth $61 for a 2 star single is quite high. Even with the exchange rate being what it is. Especially considering the 4 and 5 star double rooms people have been getting this year for not that much more money.

But I assume you did your research and are getting exactly what you want.

Again good luck to you and I hope you have a ball.

I've got to have a tv and breakie and this was the cheapest i could find, perhaps i didn't look hard enough.
I've done the 3-4 star thing and on every occassion i've wondered why i spent so much on a dump, with the exception of dicker thys(or something like that)
as for the stairs...i'll be flying anyway :D
