Nice idea of a members only club. How is it with law? Do police have the right to raid a closed-type private club in a basis of voices only and without witnesses?? :?

I`m not 2 sure where this idea stands with the law, originallly I thought it was a nice idea. I don`t think stoners are well known 4 causing trouble and creating a rumpus.
I always thought the idea had more chance of succeeding as it was in a private flat and not open 2 the public with limited guests.
Anyway earlier this year I decided 2 move in2 the flat but I have the living room decorated ganja style and Ive just bought a new PC and put that in there with some decent tunes on it and have sky TV, comfy sofa and 2 arm chairs etc.
I originally had the idea so that I could possibly meet some like minded people who enjoy coffee shops and smoking quality weed and some intellegent conversation, maybe exchange contacts etc. 2 be honest I don`t know any other smokers apart from my brother who has a bit when I give him some. I don`t buy any street crap, I get all my stuff off people online, the other week I bought half an ounce of crystal and it was an excellent smoke.
Maybe 1 day this country will legalise coffee shops so it will be easier 4 people like me 2 meet people with similar interests, I always chat 2 strangers when I`m in Amsterdam coffee shops. Unfortunatly even in 2005 cannabis is still regarded as unacceptable and anti social in some quaters.
I still believe a private members club is a great idea, a place where like minded people can come 2gether and have a good time and enjoy a smoke in a safe environment in comfortable surroundings. Maybe 1 day.......

Since weed is now a class C drug in the UK (ie still illegal but not worth the police bothering about), nobody should bother you for smoking in a private club or home.

But you can be sure there'll be accusations of dealing so you'd have to be really careful that all deals occur outside.

It'd be great if you gave this idea a go, but maybe you could have a chat with a sympathetic lawyer (if such a creature exists) regarding the legal issues. I'm sure there's also lots of rules covering how private clubs should be run too.

Good luck and don't forget to do your homework!

I know you can get done for knowingly allowing drug use in your house but with the class C status I haven't got a clue.

I found the crystal was too strong & harsh on my throat. Good job I'm not a "full-time" smoker otherwise I'd have to downgrade to the milder stuff... :(

I know of a similar kind of coffee shop in London, more like a social club for the Moroccan people (I'm not Moroccan but hey). they do have a dealer in the place though and he has some nice clean hashish but still export quality.

Nice to hear you want to have a place where you can smoke and socialize with people while having a drink.

Derby, not too far away.

All the best.

I love the idea of a byow coffee shop. I have read of many such places in Canada and it could work! the only thing would be "popularity" because once a place likes this starts getting big here comes the coppers! :x not to mention theres always a chance that there is a law inforcement officer monitering this site. damn thats a messed up thought :(
its to damn hot out!

Sounds great. Good luck, it's gotta be a tough row to hoe, I wish you well.

If I was gonna open one up, I think ideally I'd shoot for something like the atmosphere of the Café Luxembourg on Spui. I'm thinking more of the "reading room" ambience than the oppulence. I always thought that was a niche never covered by coffeeshops in the 'Dam.

But I ain't in the bizness, probably for good reason.

I admire the way that you guys eventually ignored a particular poster on here. He seems to do nothing more than piss people off. A poster who only seems to criticise and offers no help or advice to other forum members on Amsterdam.

Atleast he made a contribution to this particular debate, albeit as tactful as a brick through a window.

Personally I can see the angle he's comin from, it's over thought. It's your flat, not a coffeeshop and whatever ya do to it wont change that. I'd have thought creating a dedicated facebook account and gaining yer members through that would've enabled ya to try it out quietly without putting it in open forum for 'anybody' to take an interest in. Plus, I think it's better if ya present it for what it is, couch smokin, like couch surfing only better...in yer gaff, with you two stoners. Fek all wrong with that.
