The Mrs and I both really enjoyed the SLH... had a chance to get some back here and it rocked too. Just a fabulous treat.

I would recommend that the voting should be done as a blind taste test... not sure that's currently the case... but it would theoretically help avoid the so-called "brand name" coffeeshops from repeatedly winning.

Peace!

I don't quite understand why this thing exists, and why it's run by a US company? Or are they just their main sponsor or something? The cannabis cup, I mean

High Times promotes the use of cannabis, cannabis culture and campaigns for legalisation. One of the only places they could hold such an event within the law is clearly the Netherlands. I cannot imagine them being able to run a public event, sell tickets, advertise etc in the states without intervention from the law. (in the past anyway, perhaps nowadays they could do a High Time's Medical Cup in one of the happier states ;))

The reason that High Times runs the event is because one of their columnists, Steve Hager, created it in the 80's. He was on assignment in Amsterdam when a friend was talking about the harvest festivals they use to have in California in the 70's. He then got the idea to have a similar legal festival in Amsterdam where the best weed in the world could be judged. The first festival was held in 1987, but was not open to the public. The first public festival was in 94 I believe, and the rest is history.

In my opinion lemon haze by bluebird is by far better than SLH by greenhouse

i think we should start up our own ACD cup maybe hold it around 420 or even have it as a 6month or even monthly updated list, theres over 15000 members on this site so thats quite some weight behind the brand, i think there should be a rule of not allowing cs's buying the vote with free gifts, also it shouldnt have to cost anything unless there is an actual event with a dedicated venue, it should be completely independant of the cs's, their participation is automatic because anyone who buys a smoke they really like will automatically be able to add it to a list of candidates which can be voted for, this can be started as easily as adding a sticky thread
everyone in the know, knows the cc is a joke so this could easily gain the reputation of being the REAL deal
