I said it looked the real deal, it had little fibrous bits when pulled apart. I wouldn't say i was an expert, but it was a very similar looking piece of hash to what i was told was charras many years ago. Never got to smoke any last week though, it went straight in a jiffy.

...grateful as ever, are we refering to a front row 'Ho-watching' position here, of a type that allows the mischievious stoner the opportunity to place wagers on how long before a punter emerges and also to wait for the inevitable 'punter ejected at a great rate of knots by angry working girl' type situation, of the kind that wishes the words of abuse could be heard alsoangry pirate wrote:think you'll like the place TB, go up the rickety spiral stairs and the next floor has verdampers on the table and a view out the side window that you could call educational.![]()

You have reminded me that during an overland trip to India in the late 60's, charas was the general term that locals used for pot. We use to smoke it neat in a chillum pipe using a damp cloth around the mouth piece to cool the smoke as you inhaled. The press these days go on about skunk etc being 3 times stronger than the smoke available in the good ole 60's, but that stuff really blew you away.

I could never actually handle a chillum, it was like going from normal to off ones rocker in seconds, like a few bong hits I suppose, but it looks and feels great doing it, especially in context, and I agree with you, theres little doubt in my mind that good quality Indian hash and buds would easily hold their own amongst the finest of indoor strains and I dont care what % of THC people quote, proof of the pudding is in the smoking..
Ive extracted this bit..it explains about manala cream which is readily availble in Dam, though how close what is called that in dam is to what is described here who knows...
'The best charas grown in India comes from the mountains. The variety from Kasol and Malana in Himachal Pradesh is considered to be of the highest quality throughout India. It is easily available in Shimla, Naldera, Karsog, Narkanda & Rampur. Practically every area in Himachal Pradesh. For this reason, the Indian subcontinent has become very popular with backpackers and those involved in drug smuggling. The best charas is made very high up away from the police and is known as "Cream" and can be found in Malana and Kasol area Of Himachal.
The resin sticks to one's palms and by the end of the day one has harvested perhaps 8 or 9 grams of charas. The faster one works, the lower the quality of charas. Hence, to make "Malana cream" it is necessary to go very slowly and it is only possible to make a few grams a day. Nowadays production of cannabis in the Himalayas has increased as growing demand for the Malana cream named after the village it has been made. This ancient art is disappearing under the pressure to capitalize on the domestic and international market for charas.
High quality charas was also produced in Nepal and sold in government monopoly stores in Kathmandu until the government gave in to international pressure and got out of the business in the 1970s. Rolpa district in western Nepal was a production center, with ganja and as well as charas important cash crops in this extremely isolated, underdeveloped and impoverished region'
What all that adds up to is next time you are tempted to book a Spainish holiday with a load of fat red raw tourists eating fish and chips and getting pissed, get a cheap ticket to the Himalayas instead and have a real adventure...

...the more you post the more I cant wait for our meet and greet or toke and talk (whats the difference?), you and I seem to share similar tastes, only you have clearly put more time and effort in over time to pin it all down compared to my random discoveries. The last week has seen my little wish list add another place for good afghan and now another place for charas, I feel that life is complete.. (well sort of, shouldnt really say that, sounds really pathetic/shallow actually, oh well..):lol:darkglobe wrote:TB- Picasso sell Charas..€11 a gm ,€20 for 2.I always go there first cos i get in early and they open early...A spliff of there "Special" bud liberally laced with the Charas, eases me gently into the realisation that i'm back...I cant compare with anyy other, cos i've never found any other...
Ive just finished a little bit of charas that I have been eaking out for weeks, oh god it was lovely, but quite dry, but very satisfying, so ive got a fairly recent benchmark to judge with at least...anyway, beggars cant be choosers and all that..
