Who has better fries?

Post by DazedandConfusedinOR »

Have any forum members had the fries from these two places? Whose are better? Manneken Pis or Vleminckx Frites? Cheers.

No contest.

The 123 year old.

Vleminckx Sausmeesters

One is food and the other transcends to art.

Manneken Pis is closer to where I'm staying so I'll probably try them first, then I'll hit up Vleminckx Frites! I know they have to be better than the fries we have here, although I'm not sure I want to try mayonnaise on them. Hopefully they have some other sauces...I do like hot. Maybe curry?

The thick ketchup is awsome.

Eating vlaamse frites from Vleminckx Sausmeesters is a quintessential Amsterdam experience and should not be missed. My stomach is rumbling just think about it. If you're super hungry, they go perfectly with a HEMA hotdog for an ideal lunchtime meal.
I usually go for citroen mayonaise or curry saus. I'm not a fan of fritesaus, it's just salad cream really and I don't like salad cream.

Hey Newbie,

I think both establishments have multiple locations -- you can get them thru Google maps.

The two most cited on this board seem to be:

Vleminckx Sausmeesters
Voetboogstraat 33
1012 XK Amsterdam, Netherlands

Manneken Pis
Damrak 41
1012 LK Amsterdam, Netherlands

Vleminckx is located one street over from the original Dampkring, Not sure of the hours though as often I've found them closed. Reckon on 10 - 4 to catch them open I guess. Maybe someone else can shed light.

The second, Manneken Pis, is on the Damrak, very near to 420 Cafe (de Kuil). They seem to be open late and hence more accessible.

Enjoy.
Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
