You can buy day passes from the ticket machines for 44.60euro, go to www.ns.nl for more info. You can aslo buy 5 day passes for 175euro at www.eurail.com They 5 day passes are worth it if you like to do what I call real coffeeshop crawls, get on the train in the morning and hit 1 or 2 coffeeshops in each town you stop in and just ride the trains all over the Netherlands all day it is way fun.
44euro for the day aint bad return from Maastricht cost more or about samething(i think)
