Sorry you have to resort to childish posts like this, unlike Niall who has an intellect.

You are making gross assumptions about me. You have no idea what I have done before.

And don't be so bitter about when our dads and grand-dads came over and slept with all your women. Over-paid, over-sexed and over-here, you know?

You point is not valid, it is sophomoric. If you had to participate in every thing you believed in, then we could have no opinions. I am also older and you have no idea if I have served in the military or not.

And finally, I am talking about supporting our brothers and sisters, I am very ambivalent about the war if Afg and was dead set against Iraq.

The problem I have with the Whole Iraq/Afghanistan wars, is the belief that we are there to free the people from opression. I have never believed this to be the case, if it was so, why Iraq/Afghanistan? There are far more opresive regimes in the world, commiting far more heinous acts on thier people.

And as has been stated in this thread already, there are a handfull of people in America ( although, I'm sure, not exclusivly ), who over the last few years, have made a great deal of profit from the deaths of thier own ( and ofcorse, the percieved enemy )

Its hard to justify what has gone on in the Middle East since we went in to liberate  them. Far too many casulties on both sides to even attempt to justify the means.

Off Topic alert!

I wonder how much quicker the U.S Government would have reacted to Hurrican Katrina, if its funds ( and personnel ) wern't tied up in two illegal wars, 1000's of miles from home.
I wonder how the U.S and U.K's economies would have coped with the global financial meltdown, if they wern't pumping billions of capital into a couple of wars they have very little chance of winning*
I wonder if banishing the Taliban from Afghanistan, and replacing them with our choice of rulers, is really going to bring peace and prosperity to the Afghan people ( De ja vu ?? )

* What is the remit for victory? I dont even know

And as for the opinion that we should not question the motives of our governments, and should support the soldiers 100%, in any conflict, does not sit well with me. I like to gather as much info as I feel nessesery to make up my own mind. After all, thats what an educated mind is for.
( I have NO college/university education, I left school in fifth year, I'm no intellectual, please, do not get that impression. I just like to make up my own mind is all)

Phew, i'm gonna need a spliff after all that

The fact is our governments do a lot of business with oppressive regimes. Look at China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. These areas have very good relations with the US/UK. yet oppress their people heavily

The Important factors are whether the regime tows the line or not, and if not, whether they have any support from more powerful countries. It's pretty much just like a primary school playground where sweets are represented by oil, and the military by bigger mates who'll do the thumping at the end of the day.

Well mate the shame of it is it's still a bit of a dog eat dog old world really. I mean the soldiers look very pretty standing outside buckingham palace but you have to give them a bit of action now and again. keeps them sharp, keeps us up there in the game.

I'm not sure how much of a devils advocate I was being with that one, but its a point of view.

As usual, you Brits are jumping to conclusions and assuming you knew what I meant, to fulfill your fantasies about Americans.
Well, as usual, you Yanks are jumping to conclusions about British people and assuming that anyone who disagrees with American foreign policy is anti-American. :D

Furthermore, as to your fantasies about the British, I am NOT British, I am Canadian.
