Best way of gettin from Amsterdam Airport to the city cent'
I agree, didn't touch my bags from the curb at the airport right through to my hotel room....for 10e extra?....at my age?Old Timer wrote:10 Euros more than the train (+ no walk from train to hotel) is not a lot to pay for a door-to-door service.
Worth every penny in my opinion.
The options are there for you to pick. How ever you get into town you'll enjoy the ride.
Iv tooken Bus/Metro to airport from central you take subway (51)to 3 stops b4 the end then take bus 199 then other bus =over the price of train more like 7euro and 90min later
biking to airport was a fun ride but long b4 getting to centrum and getting lost could be easy!
iv also walked from airport to camping amsterdamese Bos 10+kms all cause my Irish friend didnt want to take public transport
« was goin to leave him walk and me take bus But he didnt know where the camp ground was so me being such a nice guy walked the 90+min wit him lucky me he ad some cheese to ...

prices train gone up
hi all
we were in the dam last weekend and the prices for the train has gone up.
its now 4.20 euros into dam
we couldnt use the machines as they were card only so we had to use the ticket office which was so easy !!
while outside having a quick smoke we noticed a bus ( connexions) i believe, and it was going to dam, is this what you guys class as the hotel shuttle bus i wonder?
may try that next time cos it was pi--ing down and we got soaked, we looked like drowned rats when going in our 1st cs to grab a bag !!
may do a trip report if you dont mind one from a girls point of view as i know theres been discussions on here previously with them being too mills and booney !! lol

The ticket office prices are higher than when you use the machine. It says so right on the ns.nl website.
Edit: It's also more expensive to use a credit card versus a debit card.
Also, depending on where you're going, it may be wiser to go to a station other than Centraal. For example, I plan on using the Lelylaan station and then catching the #1 tram to go down Overtoom. If you're staying in the Centrum then yes, Centraal station is the way to go. Personally, I dislike Centraal station.

2nd class ticket from Schiphol to CS cost me €4.30 a few weeks back. It takes about 20mins to get there. Personally, I avoid at all costs walking up Damrak to enter the city now. I hate Damrak and walk up Warmoesstraat instead, but that's just a personal choice.

lmao
gotta tell you about this one as you guys saying you like coming out the station and hitting the damrak
last year there were 10 of us, got to the central station, followed the masses.... we ended up going out the back of station and having to walk all the way back round the building to the front to realise where we were in holland, we were even having doubts as to if we actually got off train at the right station, it all looked so different at the back, there were major works being done too so had miles of boardwalk type flooring to walk along,
so moral of story, make sure you go out the front of the station and not the back way guys... lmao

with tip??? if so, that's not bad considering it will cost you at least 15-20Euro (w/tip) to get to your lodgings within the city center from centraal...add that to the 4.30Euro (new price posted above) for the 2nd class train ticket (times two for the wife & me) and we're fairly close to the estimate above...gixxer wrote:taxi from airport cost 30-35Euro
