U getting money making idea's DC??? :D

OJ
Let me clear this up... A coffeeshop does not get ANY VAT RETURN. ON NOTHING. This results into higher prices. Also.. It varies from location to location this has to do with high rents on A-locations such as where the Old Church is. These rents are raised every year.

On thing I agree on...:
They (the coverment) raised a little too much the last years. But this does not only apply to The Netherlands and its capitol.

I would suggest to run any other money making ideas before an accountant before you count yourself rich :O)))))

Im not only a dealer.... but i gots my masters in accountantcy as well. (brag brag brag..)

I hope they get aware they are loosing customers BIG TIME with actions like this....
Dear customer,

If you already bought something than you can make this known. We do not force anything in a rude way.

This is how we tend to go about it (example):

Dealer: hello
Customer: Can I have a pepsi?
Dealer: sure..
Dealer: Would you like to buy anything of our menu?
Customer: No.
Dealer: But its not allowed to smoke something you brought in yourself.
Customer: I already bought some blueberry (?) here yesterday and I still have left.
Dealer: Ok that will be ??? euro than for the drink(s)

Senario for people who dont buy from the menu at all in busy times:

Dealer: hello
Customer: 3 Looza mango please...
Dealer: sure..
Dealer: Would you like to buy anything of our menu?
Customer: No.
Dealer: But its not allowed to smoke something you brought in yourself.
Customer: No thanks.. and makes walks away.
Dealer: have a nice day.

If there is enough seating we will still ask for you to take a look at our menu simply cause, as stated before, we are a coffeeshop. But if you refuse and we can seat you than 99% of the time we wont make a big deal out of it.

In our eyes this is not rude at all. We excuse ourselfs if you are offended in any way.

Keep smokin,

ZBeebs wrote:Sorry, I've worked in retail establishments as a manager/owner all my life and your "reasoning" is terrible. ANY time you turn a potential paying customer away, you are hurting your business. Plain and simple. You can make all the rationalizations you want, but it's all bull.

Your steak analogy is terrible. What if I was a customer who ALREADY ATE, but wants a drink at your bar? You're going to ask me to leave because I'm not ALSO buying steak?

I WAS going to stop in here on my upcoming trip, but now I will not. I have no idea if I would have bought weed or hash, but now I definitely will not. I would have certainly purchased a coffee at least, and there's your loss. If I was enjoying myself, I would have been tempted to try something off the menu as well. If every person you turn away is willing to plunk down 4 euros for coffee, you're throwing a LOT of money away. What is the mark up on coffee? 300%? 400%?

What I see is a greedy establishment that doesn't see how they are actually hurting their bottom line. By turning away people who are not buying weed, you are NOT increasing the number of people who do - all you are doing is DECREASING OVERALL REVENUE. Stupid, short-sighted, and obviously a move based on emotion, not business savvy. For some reason, you are annoyed, offended, or just pissed by people who you feel are offensive because they don't buy off your menu, even though they are spending money on other things in your establishment.

Maybe if the quality of your wares was better this wouldn't be such an issue.

Making excuses about your prices and reasoning are just that - excuses.

Dear lost customer,

We do not have a bar.... Well we do.. it can hold 3 people in total. We have 6 tables downstairs and 4 upstairs. Our terras (when open) has 2 tables.......

Thank god for freedom of speech. We respect your opinion. But that is just what it is - your opinion.

Have a smoke and a smile,

CannaKid... all you whinning about your coffeeshop,

All you use is poor excuses, and i am sure you are not doing your business any good by trying to explain yourself... As for 26 coffeeshops to be closed, if you carry on how you have been, telling us CUSTOMERS that we are wrong you will not have a coffeeshop left to be closed down, I will boycott this shop and will never recommend it to anybody in the future. Poorly run, rude, money grabbing, and the cheek that you are trying to defend your shop.

If you were a good shop, you would, like certain other members of ACD, be involved in our debates on coffeeshops, cannabis and cultures, instead all you have done is whined about people who dislike your shop and answer defensivly about your shop!!!

Good luck, and if you have some kind of degree or qualifications, what your doing serving weed in a coffeeshop?

Happy smoking in the Bulldog :-) :-)

Cannakid wrote:18 Euro for 1.5g? Sounds like they had a bit of a price hike from last year, damn. I'll have to give this place a proper reevaluation in two weeks. I may come back with a different opinion of this place, though I hope that doesn't happen.

Not really..... It used to be 12 euro for a gram....

Here comes the math:

0.5 for 6 euro.... 1.5 for 18. Its not priced higher, it is simply turned into a higher amount due to the fact our customers wanted more than a gram but didnt want to buy 2 grams (24 euro).
That's a load of garbage. I have never heard of anyone happy about coffeeshops increasing a minimum purchase. In fact, people do nothing but COMPLAIN about it. If I want to sample something on the menu, 1 gram is plenty. Forcing me to buy 1.5 grams only makes you look greedy.

And thanks for assuming we are too stupid to do basic math.

Can I just say a BIG THANK YOU to the author of this little dialogue. I have not laughed my ass off so much in ages!

Old church, as a smoker in Amsterdam I have a huge choice of establishments to choose from. Some are laid back, friendly places, where almost anything goes. Some are paranoia inducing stress holes. My choices are simple.

Might be worth mentioning Wendy that in my favourite coffeeshop (homegrown fantasy) I usually leave more in tips than I have spent on drinks (oh, and over the last 17 years I must have spent tens of thousands of pounds that super coffeeshop!)
