outbox vs. sent box...

i'm trying to contact a user here via the private message. i've written and sent a couple notes, but when i check to see if he received them they are in the outbox...what's the dif between the out and the sent?

It means they haven't looked at them yet, once it goes to the sentbox you'll know they've received the messages.
