I'm not a fan of Sunday roasts. It makes an outcast in my Irish family and the English country i call home.

Hey Kermit I think the best places for the ol' Rotisserie type chicken is to go to a market like the Ten Katemarkt on Ten Katestraat just off Kinkerstraat or the Dappermarkt on Dapperstraat. More than likely AlbertCyup too but I couldnt see them when I was there so I don't wanna be flamed for misinformation as I already got low self-esteem

Nice1, i thought i had seen them on the cuyp and i must have.

chicken has me hooked at the moment

Cue Boner and his de Klos reco. Actually, besides the ribs, they do an excellent lamb shoulder if that appeals to you. As well as chicken, steak, etc. As far as fixings go, all I can recall was a sole baked potato, which seems more of an afterthought or a silent expression of hostility towards all things vegetable, than an attempt to accompany a large piece of meat.

Sorry for the dig boner -- we are one in our devotion to de Klos. I just beat u to the punch this time.

*edit -- it seems that in the time it took me to respond, boner already replied, and made no mention of de Klos, which makes me doubly guily of injustly maligning him.

I'm in a dilemma regarding De Klos, do I go there or do I try the Loetje which is supposed to have the best steaks in Amsterdam, both isn't an option.

Go to Loetje since you've never been. It would be a nice way to end a de Pijp coffeeshop crawl.

I've read about Loetje too, but must confess, am a little put off by the fact that they fry their steak in butter, they way the Dutch prefer. Like you, I like my steaks seared on a grill, be it charcoal/gas. Heck, anyone can toss a steak in a frying pan. There must be something to it though, as Loetje is beloved by Amsterdammers.

BTW, I'm sure you're already aware that Hotel de Port van Cleve is supposed to be highly regarded for their steaks.

best steak i've ever eaten was from a steakhouse in LA...cook it youself style. fark it was good. wish i could remember the name of the place.
