guys, I can't stress my next point further:

THX A LOT!

I got about 10 movies on the download right now, it MAY burst my disk space but thats only a sign that I need to roll a spliff and take a stroll to the compuer hardware store to get another hard drive!! :)

really thanks alot, to tell you the truth I wasn't expecting AT ALL such a huge response :D

downloading right now:
-The Big Lebowski
-Le Pacte des Loups (nope styg, haven't seen it yet!!! )
-Love honour and Obey
-Layer Cake (thx to Dr Gonzo for the last two, are they Snatch/lockstock and two smoking barrels type films? lov'em!!)
-Fear and loathing (thx to Pharcyde)
-the whole Star Wars trilogy (thx to d00g! :) )
and "Saving Grace" (thx to our fearless leader: Lem's)

Eraserhead:
here is a list of the movies I have on my computer already:
-the three matrices
-Lord of the Rings the two towers
-Black Hawk Down
-Reservoir Dogs
-Ali G in da house (hahaha)
-Jackass the movie
-10 things I hate about you
-Fight Club
-Saving Private Ryan
-Trainspotting
-Madagascar
-Menace to Society
-The 51st State
-Pitch Black
-BadBoys 1 & 2
-Hitch
-Along came Polly
-40 days and 40 nights (that film just.. hurts.. :D)
-Gone in 60 seconds
-Dazed and Confused
-Be Cool
-Coach Carter
-How High
-Lord of War
-the fast and the furious + 2fast 2furious
-Shaun of the Dead
-Armageddon (sp?)
-Wedding Crashers
-Sin City
-Half Baked
-8 Mile
-The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

so as you can see, just like music, I don't have one type of movies I love.. just toss out movies you like, and I'll hit those on the download list.

HOWEVER, if anyone wants to hit one of my movies, I'd be more than happy to upload it to you (FTP server would be best tbh.. :) )

thx again all!!!

Scott.

Hopefully the first three in terms of when they were released and not by chapter. Return Of The Jedi is a bit silly with those little Ewoks (all about merchandise!) but I'd wager that it would be better than the newer films with all the CGI stuff. Too many films these days are wasted by all that shit.

I would very much like to see Shaun Of The Dead and Sin City and if anyone could point me in the direction of a safe, reliable download website then I would be keen to hear from you.

Looking forward to a seeing a few soon to be released films (Mission Impossible 3, Spider-Man 3 and most of all Casino Royale - It's about time James Bond wasn't played by a smoothie such as Roger Moore who basically did it all before in The Saint and The Persuaders TV series or Pierce Brosnan who was more or less James Bond with a different name in the Remington Steele show of the 1980's)

Anyway, that's my two cents well and truly thrown in about that particular subject.

I have been waiting on Casino Royale for quite some time now, and after seeing the trailer... grin. Finally, a Bond film that isn't shite. I was pissed when Dalton stepped down from the role, but figured to give Brosnan a chance. However, he has failed to impress me at all. His films remind me of Roger Moore's... and I don't like a silly Bond. Craig looks to be a cross between Connery and Dalton.

Anyhows, more films:

Boondock Saints (I know I mentioned it, but this film is just great)
Evil Dead II (any of them really, but ED2 was my favorite)
A Bronx Tale
Platoon
Any of the Indiana Jones films
Hatari (John Wayne Comedy - Africa)
The Quiet Man (John Wayne Comedy - Ireland)
The Prophecy
Gangs of New York
The Last Samarai
Taxi Driver
The Deerhunter
Donnie Brasco
Donnie Darko
50 characters? Nothing to say in 50 characters.

I unfortunatly don't kow any sites..

however, if you hit those using Ares sharing files device, you won't get the spyware and all that, and its quite quick to download..

have a look:

"You don't go looking for a job dressed like that do you? On a weekday?"

"What day is this?"

Lebowski is a great call. Keep on open mind the first time you see it, because it's a movie that requires repeat viewings to fully understand it's greatness.

As for other movies, here are a few more suggestions:

Crime/Mob/Drugs
Bound*
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels*
Snatch*
Blood Simple (first Coen Brothers movie)
Fargo
Die Hard
True Romance*
Get Shorty
Braveheart

Cool Flicks
Go*
Swingers
Good Will Hunting*
American Beauty
The Royal Tenenbaums
Das Boot (cool WWII submarine movie)*
Fahrenheit 9/11
The Shawshank Redemption*

Comedy
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
Easy Money
Old School
There's Something About Mary
Anchorman
Stripes
Trading Places*
Animal House*
Caddyshack*

*Greatness

Some of those movies might be pretty obvious choices, but I listed them anyway. Enjoy!

Sorry for rezing the the thread (that's resurrect, not rez-inate. =P), but I just rewatched this one totally tripped out movie. Princess Mononoke. It's a japanese animation film that got redubbed in english with some really big voices (billy crudup, minnie driver, gillian anderson), but the whole premise of the movie and the art is just so crazy! It's beyond words, I can't even imagine what this movie would be like on shrooms.

les amant du pont neuf- best film the french ever made

le haine- second best film the french ever made, also features some great french hip hop, and believe me french is the fucking language to rap in.

noi albinoi- icelandic, very bleak, glacier problems and a young man digs a grave in the perma-frost whilst wearing jeans, a windcheater and pumps.

pusher- danish film detailing the day to tribulations in the life of a small time copenhagen dope dealer.

cabina- spanish tv film. almost silent, very funny.

made in britain- tim roth's first film. made in the early eighties, features an educated, elequent skinhead dissatisfied with his lot.

van der valk- seventies tv detective show, set in amsterdam and full to the brim with wonderful seventies amsterdam.

If you ask me, that movie would have been far better suited as a radio play then a feature film. Just a generation:next point of view, but despite Kubrick directing (i love every other film of his i've ever seen with 2 exceptions), I found the visuals very, very dull.

However, that's quite the opposite of 2001 a space oddessy, his only other flim I didn't enjoy. While the film's visuals were incredible, the lack of, well... everything else... really detracted from my enjoyment of the film.

Spartacus, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide shut were stunningly good films. I've yet to see others he's worked on.

Anyway, more movies... I have a giant list of all the movies I have on my computer (alot, believe me) so instead of just posting a huge list of titles most of you will probably ignore, I'll post a list of people who make films great(several quite obvious):

-the frat pack (old school, zoolander, anchorman, wedding crashers)
-broken lizard (super troopers, club dread, beerfest)
-kevin smith (clerks, mallrats, chasing amy, dogma, jay+silent bob)
-the wachowsky brothers (matrix, v for vendetta)
-francis ford coppola (the godfather, apocalypse now)
-alfred hitchcock (oh god, half the top 100 films in history are his)
-martin scorcese (taxi driver, goodfells, and just out: the departed)
-quentin tarantino (pulp fiction, reservoir dogs[my all time fav], kill bill)
-john logan (gladiator, the last samurai, the aviator)
-hayao miyazaki (spirited away, princess mononoke)
-george romero (____ of the (living) dead)
-tim burton (more films than I can comfortable fit in this post)
-mel brooks (the producers, blazing saddles, young frankenstein, spaceballs, many more)
-peter jackson (lord of the rings trilogy)
-george lucas (thx 1138, star wars)

And a list of various great films that stand alone:
-Requiem for a Dream (far deeper than any thinkpiece film)
-American History X (see comments on RfaD)
-Shaun of the Dead (the greatest film that should never have been)
-Fight Club (great film from a good book, wow?)
-American Beauty (strange, captivating)
-Donnie Darko (masterpiece)
