I love how some of you guys claim its a joke, but continue to throw barbs around. Yes, I get it - the common wisdom is that the American media doesn't show us as how the world sees us, but what makes you think your media (wherever you happen to be) is 100 percent accurate and unbiased!? Come on. Its the same everywhere. Realize it, and if you still hate/dislike people based on their geography, just keep it to yourself when on this forum. I'm sure there's a forum on the web somewhere where there are people who love to debate this shit.

The etiquette of taking pictures in coffeeshops.
Especially menus.

Most shops will let you take pix to your hearts content, a few don't
even care about videos.
ALWAYS ask first. It's always at the option of the bud tender, so if
one won't let you, go back on another shift and that one might let you.
Be persistant.
Generally, try to keep people out of the background. Some folks don't
want it known that they frequent Amsterdam coffeeshops, I do and I'm
proud but I'm not everybody. Menu pix are short range and don't have
much if any background.
Almost as an afterthought but of primary importance.
Remember, really stoned people don't like flashes of bright light
and most of the folks there are pretty stoned.
Don't use your flash if at all possible. Most digital cameras
will work in pretty low light and software can lighten it up later.
Often the bud tender will move a menu to better light or let you
take it to better light, say to a window with light streaming in.
Speaking of pictures: What if you just want to take a picture of the buds you just purchased on your table right in front of you? Still necessary to ask if it doesn't involve taking pictures of the coffeeshop or other patrons? Just wondering as I plan on photographing the buds I smoke. Obviously I see a lot of bud shots on here which is in part why I ask.
I took shots of my own bud, close up, macro mode, no flash. Its very possible no one had any idea what I was doing, and if they did, no one so much as looked at me funny. I didn't think to ask anyone, since I was only pointing my cell phone camera directly at the tabletop from a few inches away, and no one could have possibly thought I was taking a picture of them. Maybe I should have asked though?

Thats what I do. Never asked, as I am not shooting faces, or the shop interior, so I figure I'm fine. Sometimes the light in the shops is rubbish for pictures though ( well, close up bud shots )

The longest I've sat in a coffeeshop (de Kuil) was prolly around 4 -5 hours. As long as yer buying drinks, no one will hassle you. I've never felt resented for staying too long in a c/s, but YMMV.
Oh yeah that's good to hear. I planned to take a good book with me, some paper for notes and good music. I hate to rush while I'm smoking, taking it easy and forgetting where I am is always better than worrying that have I been here for too long. Man I can't wait to get there for the first time.
I'd love to do as much T&T as possible, but I get really f*cken dumb when I'm stoned, words that come from my mouth sound a bit like "Ummmm whaa.... mmmhhhhh... okkaaayyy", but from what I've read, I'm not the only one with this problem

sez you half your posts are tellin people to suck your penis or other highly abusive remarks i apologised to dazed and said i never meant to ofend him thats my last on it now the thread needs locking or moving to the bottom its not really a good advertisement for new members which is it partly my fault as well as yours yet again i apologise to the non partakers in this thread

Ha, that happened to me last time I was there! I totally forgot where I was and sort of started to panic. I calmed down after a bit as I mentally retraced my steps and it worked out fine, but i was shitting bricks there for a bit!

But think of it, wouldn't it be awesome to "wake up" and notice that you're in Amsterdam, no clue how you got there? All you could do is to head to the desk and buy something to cool you down

The big difference between me and you is my comments are made after someone got offensive first, you seem to pop up randomly just to make some cock faced remark. I tell people what I think of their ugly comments, and you are what is referred to as a troll. Oh, and nice try pushing blame for the ugliness of this thread on me.
