Dont know about big screens in Dam Square for the footie but I spent my birthday in 420 watching the Arsenal v Barcelona match and it was probaly the best match I've watched in my life, so my advice is get a seat nice and early order a Amstel or 6 and smoke some of their NYCD, if you get the munchies the shop opposite (Valo posted a pic recently) has some mighty fine cakes and stuff!!

I've never noticed a screen in there before........

I can't think of a better place to watch it if possible.

Or spend a Birthday for that matter!

Hey Pharcyde well done for scoring those tickets. FIFA currently has the Czech Republic as the second best team in the world and the USA are fifth best. Unbelievable but here it is

Can't believe we're 42nd

I wonder who makes those things up :?:

AM I the only one that thinks the Dutch will win the Cup? I think they will win their group as well. I think the US will get through to the second round by suprising the Czechs, but I am not sure the will repeat their great quarterfinal run from 2002

Well the Dutch have as good a chance as any team as going by the history of the competition, the odds would seem to favour a European country becoming world champions after the final.

Only once in the history of the World Cup has a team from outside of Europe won the tournament when it has been played in a European country (Brazil won the 1958 tournament held in Sweden)

No European team has ever won the World Cup when the tournament has been played in a non European country.

Also, the last time the World Cup Finals were in Germany in 1974, Germany won.

Will history repeat itself?

Will a non-European team win in Europe for only the second time in history?

Does the past really mean that much when the tournament is only held once every four years?

Only 16 more days to go. The truth is out there.

Doog you are a piece of work man. Good stats however. If the Holland Casino had a sports book I would put 100 eur on the Dutch to win it all!

The dutch are a talented lot for sure.

However they've had in fighting and lack of team spirit since the early 80's.

PSV v Ajax that's the problem..... until they can get rid of their differences they'll win nowt.

People seem to be forgetting France..... they have a new improved younger squad.... and any team with Henry in it will stand a chance.

Too many personality clashes in the Dutch squad of recent years because of all the big name players thinking they are bigger than anyone else.

I think Marcel Van Basten has worked hard to try and get rid of that atmosphere and he has been known to drop the bigger name players in favour of possibly lesser known names who are actually playing well and worthy of inclusion in the team.

MVB is without doubt the greatest Dutch striker of his generation (his goal against the USSR in Euro 88 still sticks in my mind) and I would like to see him bring that success into his managment career.

Read all about him
