From now on, tourists entering the United States will have to pay ten US dollars to enter the country. The charge is part of the Travel Promotion Act approved by the US Senate.
The money raised by the new law will be used to promote tourism in the United States.
The number of overseas visitors has fallen by almost three million a year since the 11 September attacks of 2001, while the number of long-distance tourists worldwide has increased.
The ten dollars will be collected at the airport on arrival. Regular visitors to the US will not have to pay each time. The charge will only be levied twice each year. Visas for the US will continue to be free.
Around 23 million tourists visit the US each year. Since 2008, all visitors have been obliged to register online before they arrive.

It isn't that favourable now, there was a time when we got $2 for every £1 now it's about $1.50 but if you're spending 100's possibly a thousand+ an extra $10 isn't no big thing, if this catches on every country will follow suit.DazedandConfusedinOR wrote:I don't think it's a big deal at all, especially considering the favorable exchange rate for visitors from Europe or the UK. I'd much rather have a favorable exchange rate than worry about a lousy $10!

And sorry Boner, you seem like a nice guy, but I'm not shedding tears over the exchange rate of the pound to the dollar!!

Now you want to talk about a fee; here's what Argentina charges to visitors from Canada, Australia, and the US:
Canada $70 USD
Australia $100 USD
US $131 USD
Ouch! And those aren't Visa fees as visitors from these 3 countries don't need a Visa to visit Argentina.

well maybe they should stop treating everyone like criminals & insisting on having all 10fingerprints & iris & facial recognition,(which are all kept on a database for 75years), just to enter the country, thats 1of the main reasons i aint gone yet, i aint no criminal so why should i be treated as suchPuffin13 wrote:The number of overseas visitors has fallen by almost three million a year since the 11 September attacks of 2001[/url]
