US steps up air travel security measures
2 April 2010
The United States has unveiled new security plans to subject all US-bound plane passengers to screening methods that use real-time intelligence to target potential threats.
Under the new set-up, passenger data will be checked against data provided by intelligence services, including an existing list of 6000 potential terrorists. Passengers will be screened for nationality, age and recently visited countries.
US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the measures have been introduced in the wake of the botched Christmas Day plane bombing, blamed on a young Nigerian en route from Amsterdam to Detroit. It later emerged that existing data could have helped prevent the failed attempt.

These so called "new" measures were recommended before 9/11 but never implemented because they were/are considered profiling. In the US, profiling is considered racist, very non-PC. I always believed in the adage that if it looks, smells, and sounds like a pig, it's a pig. My growing concern is that the pig is adapting and finding other ways to disguise himself.
Peace.
Peace.
