Out of the centrum and near (5 mins walk) Mellow Yellow.
I didn't get it cheap but town was full and was glad to have anywhere at all to stay.

It was however a decent location to explore a different part of town(on a quiet street just off the Heiniken experience square) but the hotel itself was cold and unfriendly. The staff definitely seemed to look on the

guests as the enemy. They just could not hide the fact they did not want to be there and most certainly did not enjoy what they were doing. It had a feel to it of being more of a boarding house than a hotel. The room

(in a different building about 100 yards away from the main hotel was ok and sharing a toilet on a different floor was not too bad considering there was not much choice I could and have done much much worse. So

worth staying if you can get a real cheap rate and want to stay close to Mellow Yellow. You get breakfast thrown in for free too.

I've stayed at The Asterisk in the past and thought it ok. It's not smoker-friendly and the owner made it quite clear on checking in that smoking was definitely not tolerated but my room was on the first floor and so it wasn't much of a hardship to go downstairs and smoke outside.
My room was in the main building. The room was clean and in good condition with a tv and safe. The toilet and bathroom were directly opposite my room and were free everytime I wanted to use them.
The hotel is in a good location, on a very quiet street opposite the Heineken Expereience. Maybe a bit out of the way if you like the hecticness of the RLD but not too far. The breakfast was the usual bread, cheese, meat, cereal and boiled egg.
Alternatively, the smoker-friendly Hotel Kap is almost opposite on the same street. The hotel premises and rooms aren't as nice but the buffet breakfast is better and you can smoke, nuff said.
