How do u deal with Paranoia when stoned?
Hope you dont think im being stupid!
Although not often, there are times when i have gotten a bit paranoid or at least a bit spooked and not comfortable. Even to the extent of not wanting to go into anothe room! Sounds daft i know, but it has happened.
Doesnt happen in hotel rooms butif i am in an apartment with other rooms. Not sure why, and doesnt always happen, but if it has happened to you , what do you do to make yourself comfortable? Do particulr types of weed/hash make thsi happen more than others? Or is it just my bad luck?

for me the answer is either it was the wrong "somewhere" or the "something" was maybe too strong or maybe i smoked a bit too much of it

Not at all.Kiwibuddha wrote: Hope you dont think im being stupid!
Well. I've found that when I get paranoia it helps to sit with it. Don't react to it, don't try to "talk to it" or "think it through". Just sit with it. The paranoia will fade after a few minutes if you don't try to increase it with your own thoughts.Kiwibuddha wrote: Although not often, there are times when i have gotten a bit paranoid or at least a bit spooked and not comfortable. Did you think you'd get rid of me that easily?

Strong Sativas are much more likely to cause paranoia than Indicas (not all Sativas of course, but some of them definitely can cause that type of feeling).
Remember to talk to the budtenders, tell them that you have suffered paranoia with certain strains, and ask for their recommendations for strains that won't make you paranoid.

I'd steer clear of the particularly pure and strong sativa's. For me they are the most likely to trigger paranoid thoughts. Maybe try nothing more than a 50% sativa. I try to be careful with sativa's and always have an indica at hand in case I need 'bringing down' a bit.
As far as 'dealing' with paranoia once it has struck I find being in a familiar place helps so if you make a certain coffeeshop 'home' for your trip you can always return there and relax for a while if necessary.

this is good advice.Reefer Rogue wrote:If i was feeling too high, i'd eat something and drink some apple juice, get some vitamin c in you. Just remember it's a drug, calm your thoughts, don't exacerbate the situation. It'll all go away, just enjoy the ride as much as possible.
i remember being in a coffeeshop (nameless though heroic) when this happened to a friend of mine. The first thing they did was was ensure he drank a lot of vitamin c (orange, apple, whatever) and then consume some sugar, in this instance a mars bar.
seemed to do the trick within 3/4 minutes

Its probably happened to us all over the years---One thing that still spooks me out when I'm stoned is when the phone goes, and it makes no difference if its some outfit trying to sell you double glazing or maybe your Mum or Dad. Things like that freak me out to this day.
Almost always I find thew answer to be to get out and sit somewhere quiet--after five minutes or so--you get zoned out in a real inner trancendental way---take yourself away from craziness. search for peace---quiet---birds singing--rivers and streams make a good backdrop

Absolutely not.Kiwibuddha wrote:Hope you dont think im being stupid!
Of course, one of the worst times to become paranoid, is when you're in a coffeeshop full of people. At those times, it helps to remind oneself that everyone around you is stoned as well. Then my strategy is to close my eyes and pretend or try to sleep. This can be rough, especially if you've oversmoked, but unless you want to cause a scene rushing out of the shop, I find it best to ride it out with my eyes closed, cutting down on the visual stimuli.
Bring an mp3 player to cut down on the surrounding noise and cue up some mellow tunes.
When you've settled down, find a nice stoney indica to chill out on.
Hope this helps.
Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Thank you all for your responses!
Last time i was in Amsterdam, 5 years ago, i had an apartment and a few times i got really spooked and found it uncomfortable to go into teh bedroom, not sure what i expected to find in there ! In the morning it all seemed daft of course, but it was a real fear at the time. This is what i want to avoid....maybe i should stick to studios or rooms, wherei can see everywhere:))
Am i doomed??? lol
