From what i gathered the Police are checking that no minors (under 18's) are served in the shops in Haarlem, etc...

Not shutting down yet, but higher policing around the shops, etc...

Will keep and eye on this tho, as i kno Nol is very unhappy at this, eventually this may spread to the major cities, so a word to everyone here who enjoys amsterdam, etc...

OBEY THE RULES, ALL OF THEM, DON'T TAKE YOUR LITTLE BRO OR WHATEVER TO A SHOP, DON'T ASK FOR MORE THAN 5 GRAMS, DON'T GIVE THE COFFEESHOP OWNERS ANY SHIT, COS U KNO WHAT, U CAN'T DO THIS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, SO OBEY THE FEW RULES THEY HAVE IN PLACE AND HELP PROTECT AMSTERDAM COFFEESHOP OWNERS, THEY'VE BEEN DOING US FAVOURS FOR YEARS, NOW ITS TIME TO RETURN THE FAVOUR!!!!

I agree, Although i disagree about the bit regarding coffeeshop owners doing us favours for years...Its a business cash for goods no different than Albert heijn or H&M.

Very different when u live in another country that doesn't have this sort of service!!!! I live in London, and its about 1,000 miles away from what we offer here!!!! So they are doing us a favour, most of the old guys have long ago made their money, and they could all just retire but that would kill the scene, so yes they are in my opinion doing us ALL a favour even if u live in holland!!!

I read about this online in the Haarlem newspaper. It didnt say if they closed them down or what. If they raided them it can't be good. I had planned going to Haarlem during my Amsterdam trip in May.

I worry about this soon to follow in other cities and Amsterdam as well. I'm always reading bad news anymore about the coffee shops in Holland. My trip is in 3 weeks and if I don't have volcanoes potentially crashing my trip its dutch police and government.

When I try to find out information about whats going on with the coffee shops the people online are like "nah man its cool no worries"
WTF?

If you are reading this and are under age, go to a zoo or a museum and STAY THE FUCK OUT OF CS's AND BARS. If you are busted, so is the shop. How many people would be fucked then, besides yourself? Think about it...
I support spot checks for minors, just as I do with bars that serve alcohol. Always have, always will.
If cannabis is to be legalized, the last thing the movement needs is for shops to be closed due to minors on the premises, served or otherwise.
This IS something the shops can, and for the most part, do control.
In addition, those who oppose legalization or decriminalization use the statistics gained from violations to further their cause. We all must do our part, regardless of how small or inconsequential.
The video shows them confiscating a black bag (which I assume contained some variations of cannabis which may lead to the thought that the shop had too much weight on the premises) and what appears to be record keeping materials. I hope this is all for show and harassment, and not an indicator of things to come. Shops being closed along borders, Limburg Province proposing ID's and limiting amounts to 3gms per day. What's next?
Peace.

All the info you need is here, http://www.coffeeshopstaking.nl/ Nol, the owner of a couple of shops in Haarlem, runs the site. FYI, it's in Dutch.

This is the kind of stupid shit that can be prevented, too easy in fact.
Put someone on the door and check ID's of anyone that looks under 30. Problem solved. This has been done in many shops for years, so those who chose not to man the door can now expect more of the same that Nol is going through. Granted, hiring someone to man the door will incur additional costs, but compared to the loss of revenue, easy math.
I believe in a Zero Tolerance policy concerning minors and access to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. No pity from me. Permanently close any CS/bar that gets caught serving a minor, and jail time for those responsible. If the minor is a Dutch resident, bring him/her home and give their parents a nice gift, a court summons. Put some responsibility back on the parents. For those minors who are from another country, turn them over to their respective Embassy/Consulate for immediate return to their home country. Extreme circumstances call for extreme measures.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Check ID's. full stop.
Peace.

I tried using a translator on the site. From what I gathered one shop received a warning for overstock? So all the coffee shops in Haarlem are still open?
