Obscurerd by clouds, a latecomers tale...

Thursday April 15
Sometime between 9 and 10am I woke to the news that screwed the plans of over 40 of ACD’s finest..
My trip report should begin on Monday morning, me and 2 mates jetting into Schiphol’s sunny welcome, busting with the anticipation of the 420 smokeout. Unfortunately, some nasty little lump of rock halfway to Santa’s gaff thought it would be funny to fuck up the global aviation industry, with no thought spared for those who had, ironically, been dreaming of Volcanoes for weeks.
So, Monday consisted of checking the news on tv and lappy while sitting on hold for some overworked Aer Lingus staffer to pick up the call. Flights were changed, first to Wed 6am, then Thursday 6am, ruling out my 2 mates due to work commitments.

Tuesday April 20
As the ones who made it celebrated 420, I was sat at home with a few herbal consolations...

Thursday April 22
I’ll keep this brief, plane broke down on tarmac, we got off, hit the bar for the last real pint of Guinness for four days, jumped on a replacement plane and, 3 hours late, we took off.
No, really, we did.
Sitting back on the plane, I thought of all the problems myself and others faced over the previous week. Now I allowed myself a smile, I was actually on my way.
Landed around 11ish local time and clicked my phone on to snap a photo to send home, letting my girl know I had made it.
Image
DaveS had been on the wire, I was due in 30 mins before him, now he’s sat in Greenplace, teasing me with tales of chocolope and how it would be all gone if I didn’t pull my finger out and get on the move.
Blinkers on, cue “Snatch” style montage....
Ticket-train-Centraal-Vijaya....HELLO!!!!
Quick change of footwear and off towards Nieuwmarkt, still wearing the “fuck me, it’s real!” smile i’d been sporting since we left irish soil.
Dave was sat out front with his shades on, pure BBC doob in hand. “Alreet fella, nice day for it!!”
20 seconds later, i was soaring, gibbering away and enjoying those first spliff moments. It’s always good to get back here, but this time there was an extra buzz. Too many times in the previous 7 days, this scene never looked like happening. I nipped indoors for a pear looza/gram of Blueberry Cheese to roll my first of the day. As I sat back down, Dave handed me a welcome pack in the form of a bag of Chocolope. Rolled two, one dirty and a pure to share with my nicotine free buddy.
Over the next few j’s, we set out the plan of action. Coffeshops and T&Ts were discussed, then our stomachs chipped in with their demands. Now, here’s a thing...Mr ”Never seen a salad” has never tasted the delights of Kolksteeg 2. WHAT????? YOU???!!! NEVER???
Ok then, a quick stop off to check in to my room, then over to Burger bar for the inevitable collision. Discovered room 31 in the Vijaya is essentially a corridor with en-suite wetroom. Two single beds ran along one wall, back to back, split by a wardrobe. I took the bed by the window, had a quick spliff, then went to find Dave.
Some time later, the two smiley smokers head into De Kuil, buzzing in the afterglow of Black Angus beef and Blueberry Cheese. Between us, we bought 2g Super silver Haze, 1g Nevilles Haze and a gram of Parvati cream. Dave twisted off a pure SSH j, as per, and I grabbed a few drinks as we settled into the surroundings. Always loved the vibe in here, wish you could still get a beer. Oh well.
Now, that was the easy bit...from here onwards, i’ll be piecing together random memories, so if you were there, feel free to put me right. I’ll try to keep it worth reading if I can. Took no notes, just dived in to the festivities.
...Back to the trip... It was heading on for 3.30 now and my mate PC was due in from Newcastle soon. I’d told him we’d meet outside the Barbizon hotel across from Centraal when he arrived, but so far i’d had one text telling me he was boarding, then nowt. My calls went to his voicemail, leaving me wondering where the fuck he’d got to. Dave and I hung round for a few mins then decided to drop in to Hunters so I could keep checking back. Dave got a g of the nicest NYCD i’ve tasted in a while, super lemony. I headed off out again after a few mins and when i got to the top of Warmoesstraat i heard my name shouted and turned to see a relieved looking bald Geordie smiling back. No roaming set up on his moby,..tit.
Hadn’t seen this fella in nearly five years, so we caught up on the way to the hotel. Lots to fill each other in about. Got to the room and I knocked a Chocolope j up, nice, real sweet. Had PC blabbering away in no time as I just lay back giggling. We then went and got Dave and chipped over to Basjoe for Cicso’s T&T. Time to break out the heavy artillery....”Any Terminator?”. James smiled back, “Aah, you love the Terminator man..!!”. Spotted the stoner chicks at one table. Thought i’d head outdoors to roll up, then nip back in after a j to say hello. James was doing the usual, service is prompt unless you order termy, he took ages sorting out my gram of goo, dropped a little on his own spliff, nodding in appreciation, eyes just about open. What a man. Grabbed a g of special too then took the outside seats to twist it up.
Dave nipped back inside to say hello and a few seconds later I heard “Angry pirate?” in an American twang and turned to see the smiling face of Hestia approaching. Intros exchanged, we headed inside to meet Islandgurl, Blueberry and Lampshade. I am informed that Soulrider was here too, is that right? Me and PC plannedon catching the Atletico/L’pool game in Coco’s later, so I thought i’d lay off the sticky stuff til later....no chance. Joints were bubbling all around the table. IG’s notes are possibly the only documentation of what got smoked here. Conversation centred around Cicso’s whereabouts...no show on yer own T&T? Bad form that, lad...just joking, I know you had a fecker of a journey.
Me and PC did off for the game, sat in the smoking area in Coco’s, me with a frosty Heineken, blobbing goo on the joints of anyone in our radius. Met up with one of the bar staff who had been out with us on a previous trip, Jaime, a Spanish lad. The next pint was free, cool. Things got hazy after this, made an unrecalled purchase in Bushdocter, possibly Big Buddha Cheese. I know we left for Burger bar after midnight, meaning t’Nes was closing as we arrived. Oh well, back to the room with a few stubby beers for a nightcap. Some time later, i crashed out on the bed i thought i’d never see.....
Sweet dreams, days 2-4 to follow, natch.
Peace, AP.

HAHHAHAHA

Ok ok, so there's a 80% chance you saw me and didn't know it (obviously). My girl and I arrived in Dublin this morning to find out our 11:35 to schipol was cancelled (Aer lingus as well, dublin as well). So that flight that finally got you to amsterdam? Yeah that flight was full and we were on standby : (

Lucky bastard. I'm now sitting right outside gate 210 awaiting for my 5:15pm flight which is now 30 minutes late.

But hey, at least I'm 2 hours away!

Cheers for the responses guys, much appreciated. Sorry it's a bit photo shy, left the camera in the room so all snaps were from my phone. Still, makes me try to build a bit of a story instead. :)

Last night had passed by in a blur, a numbing mix of cold beers and bubbling joints. We woke about 9ish and got stuck in to last nights leftovers. Had to re-arrange the spartan furniture so we could both toke out the window, and blazed away, watching people bimble about outside on another sunny morning. Missed the brekkie downstairs but still got a coffee off a tall Dutch fella with a greenhouse t shirt. Met up with Dave and headed out for a smoke, or breakfast, wasn’t bothered which came first so I suggested a walk thru to Paleisstraat to an old fave for a fry. We stopped off in Babylon c/s, after hearing good things in LiquidSwords’ TR. Saw a “haze” dominated menu, so we did a “taste test”. Buddha Haze, NYCD Haze and one other. All around the 10-11e/g mark. In his TR, Dave said he got Bubblegum? Dunno, but i do remember we said we’d all get hazes?!? Babylon was nice, quite dark against the morning sun when you got inside, very chilled, budman was sound lad too. Quite basic furniture and a LCD screen playing Eredivisie highlights. Their weed was a let down for me, the Buddha Haze was the weakest of the trip, with the NYCD Haze close behind. Tasteless and hard to keep alight. To be fair, whatever it was Dave got was decent though. Definately sweeter and stronger and burnt well pure. I’ll go back, but i’ll take a bit more care with what i buy. :?

Shuffled off to O’Reilly’s next for grub, passed by the funfair in Dam, rides looked much better this year. Bet the view was great from the top of here...
Image

The wheel was bigger too, almost touching the wall of P&K...
Image

Down into the bar, got served by a wee scots lassie, who moved everyone up a place in the “best looking girl in Scotland” list when she left for the ‘dam.
Noticed a sign at the door that had to be messaged back home...
Image

Me & my girl have often thought of a move abroad, and like so many others, this place is up near the top of the list of options. Thought i’d test the water.. 8)

After a full irish (not as good as previous trips, but still good), and a cheeky grolsch, we head up to Any Day. Love this shop, always quality smoke and vapes on the tables. Got 2g Afghani Delight ( budtenders’ rec) at 12e/g i think. Also bought a g of their lovely dark Rootang Valley hash. 17.50e ...oww. PC got some AG too and a g of lovely looking charras. Dunno what Dave bought, though this might be where he got the Bubblegum? I know i looked at the JamHi too, but i needed more cash first.
Up the rickety stairs to the window seat with a view of a pro downstairs in a kamer across the alley. Watched a fella walk by a few times, gradually building up the bottle as the sound of false nails tapping on glass grew. Left PC and Dave taking bets on the outcome while i filled up the verdamper with Delight. If i do a top 5 smokes at the end of this, expect to see this in there. 10/10.
I had to head to Etos for some travel size stuff, so i agreed to meet the lads in Amnesia in half an hour. Bounced across the Kolk to Nieuwendijk, got the shopping and made it to Amnesia before them. Walked in to find the Stoner Chicks and Lampshade sat with A (oracle?) amongst others. I ordered a choc shake and grabbed 2g Vanilla Kush on recommendation, and a g of Azila hash. Took a seat and got to work with both in a pure mix. The Azila was the softest, sweetest bit of hash i’ve had in a while, should be too, at 17 painful dollars per gram. As for effect, don’t ask me, I discovered i had sat down in the middle of an almighty jointfest. A passed me a j of something special, unrecalled again,(IG, any clue?) I seemed to get his joints passed my way first as they had baccy in them. Oh yeah, the lads had turned up by now, adding more of mother nature’s finest to the mix. 8) 8) . Noticed a shady character enter and eye the group up on his way to the bar. He heads back over to us and asks “Are yis all fae ACD, no?”. Wa-hey, Cisco made it!! On his own T&T for a change an all! Intros all round, welcome joints passed to the noob, followed by tales of an EPIC journey over land and sea. Fair play, we let him off for last nights fail. At this point the SC’s announced Katsu was next, so they and Dave left for a tram while Cisco, Lamps, PC and me decided to walk down after another round of drinks. It’s a stiff walk, but hey, the sun was playing ball and in no time(yeah, right), we were in De Pijp and heading into De Graal. My spending was getting a bit silly, wasn’t getting any change from a fifty in most places, before drinks. So i loved the 5e bags in here, got 3 of ‘em. Their version of gunpowder (can’t remember the name), white gold and i think Buddha cheese. As reported before, the white gold is the tits, such a soft, crumbly blonde. Good quality of merch in here, nice seating too. We had a mini-sesh then wandered up the market, me wishing i could do my weekly shopping here. Headed in to Katsu, Dave & the SC’s were at the vape table, under a sweet cloud. Got the usual 2g BlackWidow, PC did the same after asking me if it was any good. Myself and the Budtender (Appie?) just nodded at him, smiling. :D . Then it was back to the usual spliffy-go-round, with extra verdamper and a side of strawbs & grapes, yum. Aah, the life...
As this was DaveS’s first venture out of centrum, we persuaded him to walk back with us as the girls and Lamps took the tram. We stopped off for an ice cream near Katsu, Double scoop, 1 choc chip, 1 mango. Just the job...
Onward to Leidseplein, stopping for a buy n fly in Rookies. Got a gram of haze (mako?) and a ½ g of some tasty iceo hash for 14e. Took the tram to Burger bar next and found Lamps and IG had beat us to it. :D. Went for the Wagyu this time, top notch.
The rest of the night was spent in t’Nes, minus Dave, who had crashed in the room. Can’t blame him really, we’d put a good few miles on the sock today. Got to Nes 33 after a choc waffle and a pit stop in Basjoe for more special and 2g Heaven Haze. Once in the bar, we were introduced to DC, who ordered us a beer as we settled down for a night of herbal debauchery. DC’s ice hash was dynamite , traded him a j of rookies version to try, with a tight roach as he was on filter tips. At this point, most of us had stashes on the table and were twisting up to Olympic standard, so the night once again descended into a blur of highs. IG’s stash of casey j (sweet), PC’s Heaven haze, the hosts hash, Lamps chucked a few good ‘uns round too, while i was getting a bit terminator happy...
I’d like to point out my mate, a born and bred Geordie, can’t drink beer!!!??!! This always baffles me, but it becomes my problem when i have to go to the bar and order drinks. ”Pint of Gulpener and a large shandy please”, aaargh. Think if i tried this in Dublin, i’d get sectioned or put on some register somewhere. Stiil, a small price to pay, if this was my local, i’d happily order him anything he asked for. Fuck drinking anywhere else in Mokum, it’s here, and Batavia, from now on. As stated by all who visit, yer man has an establishment to be proud of, great craic, top tunes and fine beers. Got talking to F, who used to work in 2e Kamer. We were talking about life in the coffeeshops back in the 90’s and F had some great stories, so we sat and got hammered til it was time to go. And that was that, another great day over. And we were only halfway there....
Enjoy yer day people. I’m off to sit in the sun, might watch a few mancs cry on the telly later, we’ll see.....
Peace, AP. :D 8) ...
