Episode 15 Across the see:
The hole in the ground with water flowing in and the 'most beautiful warm light' coming out...If you go in and you come out all Smokie.. 'Every one wants more' I think all signs are pointing to the worlds first and largest underground Hydroponics set up.
After rewatching the scene. the mother says the light cannot go out, if it goes out here it goes out everywhere...
I feel i need to modify the theory from hydroponics set up to the original mother room...is this where the original haze plant came from..the original cheese plant????
Ps i have just found evidence to back up my stoned theories!! In this interview Darlton discuss their influences for the show..Check out what Damon says about 20 seconds in...
BEHIND THE SCENES WITH DAMON AND CARLTON

Argh. I wish Channel 7 here in Australia would do the same thing. But they are so stubborn with their programming. Won't even show football games live, even when they're sold out. I have to wait until Wednesday, or just stream/download.Pauli Wallnuts wrote:just seen sky1 is screening the finale @5am on monday morning, same time as on the west coastonly taken them 6years to do

Being pedantic and knobbish since 1972
SPOILERS BELOW!!!!
Me thoughts on the ending.
In the flash sideways universe, the reason they all so easily understood what they had to "do" once they remembered the island was because they realised they had died and that they were in purgatory. Once they were ALL dead (which could have essentially been the end of time considering Hurley was the new watcher of the island), they could all move on. Ben was not ready to move on yet, which I think was fitting for the character; he needed more time to reflect.
The entire flash sideways was really nothing more than a lead-up to show the importance of them all being on the island together and how they each affected each others lives, be it for better or worse. It essentially had NOTHING to do with what was happening on the island. That is why many things were off and not right (Desmond being on the plane, Jack having a son etc.).
As for the occurrences on the island, it was essentially science vs. faith. The light could very well have represented life in general, and they were brought there as candidates to ensure the survival of the human race. Heck, Hurley may have failed.
I think that ending is meant to represent the experience, and not have a definitive meaning for the audience. It shows how important the characters were to one another, and how important the experiences on the island were to them. Once they die, they each get to wait until they're all ready to move on and pass into heaven. This signifies how important they are to one another; their lives in the purgatory aren't quite right until they're all back together again. Also, it's perhaps a fitting example of the state of the human race, and how sometimes all you need is a little faith (Jack, scientific man finally having faith). They were there to ensure the survival of the human race, and one sacrificed his life to ensure that. Also, Hurley saying to Ben "You were a great number 2" quite obviously signifies that they spent a considerable amount of time protecting the island together.
