through my eyes that is pure art... i can only respect the artist for the creation - maybe turning that guys dreams into reality... I also respect the guy with the tat. Anybody with tats will know the doubt involved but do it right and the rewards are amazing... I recomend to anybody that has the desire to put some serious thought into finding something artistic and creative that reflects something that you have strong emotional connection with... make this a statement about you. Have it done in a descreet place and see how diferent you feel about tattoos. Just my opinion... alternatively, have a drawing/print done of what you would have as a tattoo and put it on the wall in frame...
However, this is not my style of tattoo and I would not have one like it... but I would love to have a real good close up look at it.

I'll probaly alienate myself with this comment but I dont really like tattoos I've always felt that to be different nowadays is to not have any which I'm proud to admit to, if I was going to get one done then it would have to be something like George Clooney has in From Dusk Till Dawn now thats a tattoo!
(no offence to anyone that has them I fully respect it but its not my scene)

Rez.....the Xed guys stuff is awesome. Looks like he would be the one to goto for a big tribal piece. Hopefully hes not too expensive.
boner...completely understandable...to each his own. I'm sure you are into something i'm not interested in at all

Can't believe I missed this thread first time around. That is a great tattoo and that guys arm at the top of this page. I had a few tattoos done when I was between 16-18 and I don't regret them but if I could chose again then I may have some different.
They include: dream catcher (shoulder); jamaican cartoon worm (other shoulder) *this was because i was going to Jamaica for my 18th b/day*; native american band (right arm); john lennon 'imagine' logo (right arm); another native american/dreamcather style design (inside of my left arm); and finally *cough* daffy duck *cough* (ankle) don't know what I was smoking there!! Will try and take some pictures somtime.
I really want a big one down the side of my body (under arm/ribcage area) of a gothic style ankh, but also blend the heartagram logo of my favourite band HIM into the design....my paintshop skills aren't the greatest but getting there. But I would expect it to cost around £300 right now (a weekend in Amsterdam!!)

... we're getting there
with 4 flames:
... and with center piece:
... my only concerns now are the thickness of the ring surrounding the center piece and the noticable size difference between the bottom flame and the 3 others... I resized the flames but think I might have to keep the width but reduce the length of the bottom flame to keep a good size ratio... more prep work needed... any suggestions/comments ??

coming right along!
IMO, the width of the ring now is almost too thick to the small flames and definitely too thin for the big one....but i really like the flames as they are. I would like to see how it looked if just the lower half of the ring was progressively thickened. Know what i mean? so that it almost blends the lower flame into the ring...can't think of how to explain it.
i think i might even make the center piece a lil bigger as well, because of its thin lines it seems like it needs to be a little bigger (maybe a cm more in diameter).

... at 10:40pm and quite well toasted, I fully understood that.... I was looking at the picture and can see how blending the ring thicker and into the lower flame (I love the flame, It was my 3rd/4th attempt and I've thought about changing it but I love it so much I'm no longer thinking about changing it/them... they're staying.
Next couple of days if i get enough sober time to work on this alteration and making the center piece (triquetra) larger to fill the ring more effectively... watch this space...
nice input Maz, thanks

.... the wife just say's "yeah, it's nice babe"
**EDIT** on looking at the pictures I took earlier, I think with the above mentioned alterations, if I turn the triquetra up-side-down it might go quite well with the changing of the ring ...

... just looking at this, I can really see how the modifications will look... if i were'nt so stoned i'de go and work on it now... but for fear of a fuck up i'll wait till i'm sober... took me half an hour to post this

hahaha i know how that goes, i get the same thing sometimes with a 'you're gonna get
that tattoo', which is quite reassuring
i like the center turned upside down like that.....it works really well with the 'cross' kinda structure.

definately, mods to ring will help... few days max...
Oh, and what about smaller flames (different flames, less detailed) in between the main 4 flames... I had this as my origanal plan but now think it would loose the cross shape... will try and see too...
**EDIT** ... sorry but whilst sitting looking at it I'm thinking how the cross shape could be empasized if the flames came/were inside the ring ??... looks like a couple of try-outs are now on the to do list
**EDIT - AGAIN** this is what will really sort out the flame size issue... the top flame is currently the same size as the side flames... 3.5 inches. the bottom flame is 6.5 inches... the top flame MUST be smaller than the bottom flame but BIGGER than the side flames... cross shape sorted... maybe more than a few days...
