Friendly trash talking: US vs. England

Post by Marco »

First off, if you can't keep it fun and friendly, fuck off!

I know we have little chance to win the game, but damn it will be sweet as pie if we do.

We have a saying in American Football...on any given Sunday, meaning any team can be beaten.

I hope the US plays all out, not looking forward to getting points from the next two matches.

May the luckiest team win!

I think the USA's strategy for this game alone should be damage limitation.
While i can't see England winning the World Cup, maybe reach the semi's, i can certainly see them getting maximum points from the group.
The USA have a real chance of coming second, but that might come down to goal difference.

May the best team (on the day) win!

Perhaps from people who can't separate sports (leisure) from real life.

I agree and I hate this strategy. We are not going to start winning games without taking risks! If we play strategically sound football, the US will be exposed for what it is, a second-rate team.

Thats the thing Football is in our blood, we have teams that are nearly as old as the USA.

I know from Xbox Live Yanks think it's ok to talk shit/smack to people about whatever and it's all ok but here we take things differantly.

I shant bother with this thread but I can almost guarantee Lemmings Golden Rule will be broken.

Uhmm, I dont think that England can win the WC.
Is a good team but not a top team, many others are better: Spain, Brazil, Argentina, maybe Holland (surely not Italy) so i think that Usa can even win the match.
Imho, USA needs to keep England under pressure from 1st to last minute (and isnt easy) and dont let Gerrard touch any balls (harder).
All this isnt easy but possible, but i think that even a tie wouldnt be a bad result for USA.
Best wishes both team :D

Yes, this in the age-old excuse used by certain people for boorish behavior, including football violence.

Sorry you cannot have a civilized conversation, but at least you admit it. Peace

Seriously, why can't we have a friendly chat, and a little friendly teasing, about a game played by billionaires? Why would someone's identity be so wrapped up in their national team? Perhaps for another thread.

Or is what connects us here so weak, that if a certain team wins, someone becomes your enemy?

That was a joke.

Boner could have just said nothing, he did make the point he would not be participating.

Perhaps I have under-estimated you guys.

Go USA!

You are not going to beat me, I am not going to beat you. We have ZERO to do with our teams success.

If you guys think we do not have passion for sport's teams in the US, you are wrong. Some of us (let's take Philly fans for example) cannot separate it from real life.

Sunday morning, there will be no significant change in our lives, whether the US wins or loses, right?
