Could you possibly translate this? It is on a picture we purchased in the Dam. Daar Ligt Een Volk Geknield Door Lode Van Der Schelde. Thanks

According to an online translator website it means:

There a people kneeled Lode of of the schelde has bedsores

:?

...but I'm not sure :lol:

OK here goes... The picture you bought is by Anton Pieck, dutch artist 1895-1987. It actually is the cover of a book by the dutch Lode Van Der Schelde (not sure if he was dutch or belgian). The translation would go something like this : There, you have a people (a nation) on their knees, (Daar ligt een volk geknield) by Lode Van Der Schelde (door Lode Van Der Schelde). Lode is the shortening of Lodewijk, or in french, Louis.

Thanks, some how that makes a little more sense than Redeye's. Thanks for the try though Redeye, it was rather amusing and I was rather high when I read it so I got a good :lol:
