Anyone else taking Marinol?

Post by bb420 »

I was recently prescribed Marinol (Dronabinol 5mg) to help increase my appetite and find it is not as effective as smoking the real thing. It does give me a slight head rush for a couple of hours, which is magnified when taken with alcohol, but it doesn't give me the munchies like smoking a joint or bowl does. Has anyone else had any experience with it? Do you also smoke while using it? Does smoking make the buzz too strong? I could really use some help with this.
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

That should be ALL the info your doctor needs togive you a MMJ card.
If not, find a doctor on the list through NORML that will.

I was prescribed it while on chemotherapy. I didn't really like it. It only gave me a slight dizzy high. It didn't control my nausea at all. Granted, they blasted me with chemo and some days nothing would be able to control it.

I ended up giving the marinol away. Smoking really helped with the nausea, though. Except for the those days when nothing would help.

It would be nice. Too bad I live in a state that doesn't have a medical marijuana law. The doc has me trying this for a month and if it doesn't help I will be asking him to give me a reference for the Rhode Island MMP. They accept out of state doctor recommendations for their program.

Goodluck bb420, my heart really goes out to you.
We live in a crazy age where a simple plant is tabu.

Thanks Iko. I did find out the answer to one of my questions last night. I smoked a bud someone gave me and it kicked me in the skull pretty hard. I guess the combination of the synthetic and natural THC is more than I can handle.
