V and D Cafeteria

Post by Iko »

A thread here turned me on to this EPIC cafeteria in the V+D department store last year ( also has its own small street entrance ).
It is right across from the Flower Market central downtown.
It is 3 levels and the cleanest and freshest restraunt you could hope to find anywhere.
"Cafteteria" does not do it justice at all, it is multiple food stations that you walk around filling up your trey .
They have an authentic wood burning pizza station, a stir fry ( like walk to wok but cleaner ) ,a dessert room, coffee bar, pannnini grill , salad bar , juice-smoothie bar, fish and roast station etc etc.
We hit it multiple times for breakfast lunch and dinner, it gets busy at lunch with the locals.
Excellent value, and something for every taste.
A word of caution if you go in baked, you may not be able to stop yourself from grabbing too much food  .
I reccomend getting the pizza Margarit ( cheese, basil and tomatoe) and taking it upstairs to the outside balcony.

There is also a V&D cafeteria on the top floor in Haarlem.

La Place is amazing, fantastic choice, something for eveyone and good value.

There is also one in the Library on the docks. Apparently it has fantastic views over the city. Must visit it next time.

La Place

I can't extol the virtues of this place enough!

The options are many, food is fresh, quite economical, something for everybody!

i reckon i often opt for the baked chicken. they also have some good bread products, as well.

I am fine with dining solo at a restaurant, as about 1/2 of my dam trips are solo jaunts; but the "cafeteria style" makes the dining experience smooth vs. a restaurant, which may take some time for service or give you the feeling like "everyone is watching you" (not so much personally, but paranoia can play silly games on the solo diner)...

they have the nearly the same but I think they don't do the live cooking thing in the library if I remember right. they do a more pick and go style in the library! both are very good, try them you'll be satisfied.
