If ten years working in the medical field qualifies as somewhat having an educated opinion on the subject, here is mine.

Stanky Danky, cannabis hasn't been scientifically proven to cure anything, full stop. The educated among us know that cannabis provides pain relief from symptoms associated with a number of illnesses, maladies, and associated medications and treatments.

Examples:
- cannabis does not cure cancer, but it can relieve some of the discomforts associated with the cancer and or the treatments, like chemo.
- cannabis does not cure Crohn's Disease, but it does relieve some of the pain and discomfort associated with digestion and the painful flare ups of the intestinal track.
- cannabis does not cure Glaucoma, but it does provide some pain relief which is caused by the intraocular pressure.
- cannabis does not cure spinal cord maladies, but it does provide some relief in the form of a muscle relaxant, controlling muscle spasms which otherwise would add to the pain.
- cannabis does not cure anxiety, but it does provide some relief by its calming effects on the psyche.

I could go on, but the point is clear - cannabis is a plant that contains analgesic properties which provide various forms of relief from pain and discomfort, and is not a cure for what ails us.

Lastly, we desperately need an injection of civility into this forum. Seems the norm lately is to attack, attack, attack. Try this for a while - only come to this site when buzzed and relaxed. Might put you in a better frame of mind when exchanging comments with people who probably are buzzed. Just a thought.

Sorry guys don't mean to change the subject or anything, but I was just admiring the last few pages of this fine trainwreck of a thread we have going on and thought this statement had a bit of an oxymoronic feel to it. I did say they that it cured some ailments, but I think a better way of saying that would have been it relieves some ailments. Sorry Cantona I know your a man of peace and everything, but DC has gone too far way more than a time or three. I'm really not a violent person, but some people really need to learn a lesson. I think the best way someone like DC is dealt with is a good old fashion ass whoopin.

SD & Blue, the reason i argue against MMJ is not because i want to be false ( after all if it was Anti-Cancer etc. then it would benifit be as much as you guys!) I'm pointing out issues in standards of evidence, it's an endorsement of free thinking, i realise i do adopt a sarcastic tone ( this is do because it's my style of argument, i try to add humour otherwise i find it somewhat dry ) but i just want the points i make to at least be considered. Whether that merits a response or not, i believe they're legitimate concerns which everyone should consider when addressing the MMJ situation. The argument i think suffers hugely from many Philosophical problems, DUR is better suited to go for the studies and the legitimacy of them, i am not a scientist i know Philosophy so i come at it from that particular angle.

I realise this topic has brought up alot of bad feeling in the forum, so i will bow out of it for now, i as always will be happy to talk about this topic but i feel that for now the forum may need an injection of love...so i thought wtf is the most loving thing i know?
