Hi meat lovers,

was at cafe loetje last friday! :D
After visiting boerejongens and a 2 hour sunbath with a few joints at vondelpark I had a nice walk trough vondelpark via
concertgebouw/museumsplein and headed for coffeshop pacific.
But I did not go in because my mission was cafe loetje!

I arrived at cafe loetje at 18.30 and this place was totaly crowded!
As common in the netherlands I went to the waiter to ask for a table.
He told me if I would like to eat, he will put me on the waiting list to get a table in about 45min!
There is no serice on the terras! All people there are waiting for their table inside! So I was put on the list and got a number!
I ordered the first heineken for the wait. I setteled at the window oposite the bar and watched all the people and beautiful ladies there.
I watched them eating and noticed how satisfied they all were! Had a second heineken while waiting and watching the action!
The time past fast!
Another highlight I def have to mention so far is the lovely dutch waitress with her long light curled brown hair. A real beauty!

At about 19.30 I got my table, not the single table is wanted but a larger normaly for four people!
She said that she has no single table at the moment but it would be my turn.

Ordered a third heineken and my meal: steak, frites and salad!
The waiter (who def knows the meaning of service) just replied with a smile "the hole package!"
Two min. later I asked what the soup of the day was. It was onion soup! I also ordered the onion soup!

About five min. the beauty came with the steak frites and salad. But I told her that I ordered also the onion soup, she replied with a smile and said something like "ou" and went back. It was no prob for her and we did not have to discuss!

The after another five min. she brought the onion soup! A thick soup topped with melting hard cheese!
All I can say is that this was the very best onion soup I had so far in 33 yaers of life! And that was not my first onion soup, but the very very best up to now! The cheese topping is unearthy good. I was very fine at that moment!
Then I was served the steak, frites and salad. All on separate plates!
The frites are served with mayonnaise! The steak is served in a souce that is a mix of clear butter and meat juice! A wonderful tasty souce, even the frites with this souce taste wonderful! Forget mayonnaise! I hardly have to recomend this steak! It was very very tender. A result of the way they make it in pans with butter, not grilled! I loved it very much!
This steak and the souce are unearthy, the frits and the salad are standard. But this steak is a must my future trips! Cafe loetje is the place to go to be satisfied, cooking at the highest level! I know how hard it is to make simple things outstanding, cafe loetje knows how it works!

Finished with a double espresso. Bill was 36,-, and that's actually not much for what you get!
I enjoyed it very very much!

Must be great, Wagyu Summer Special = Wagyu Rib eye 250gr incl. side dish of choice

but 39,50Euros

I think expensive but for a meat lover and taster worth a try.
If i worked for an airline i would sign for their "aviation membership card" -25% each visit!
I guess that's no joke, they really offer that on their website.

That's how they promote on their website:

"The best royal beef in Amsterdam
Toro Dorado proudly presents the finest and healthiest quality steaks We offer you a choice of world class beef from Argentina Japan and Scotland Our beef is exclusively imported for our valued guests. Toro Dorado is proud to present Kobe beef, which traditionally comes from Wagyu cattle.“Wa” is a very old Japanese language term for Japan, or things Japanese, and one of the meanings of “gyu” is beef, with an “on the hoof” connotation. The meat from wagyu cattle is known worldwide for its marbling characteristics, increased eating quality through a naturally enhanced flavor, tenderness and juiciness, and thus a high market value. Toro Dorado offers you a choice of prime meat:Fresh chilles tender imported 100% pure beef.Grilled to your perfection. "
Check out Wiki or elsewhere on the web for Kobe beef. This cattle are among the most prized for a reason!

Enjoy a little alcohol? These fuckers are massaged with the shit! :D Seriously these are the most pampered little bitches in the whole world, no wonder their beef is so good

I remember a few years back before the recession bit and one of the restaurants in a top-end department store in London was selling a Kobe beef sandwich with all the trimmings (the most expensive trimmings ever, of course) for almost £100

It's the caviar of beef apparently, and i'd fuckin love to try it :D
