Another quick update
As it is now still light when I get home from work I am staring to spot things
there was the first crocus the other day (the flower still hasn't opened)
And then last night I was just wandering around the bit next door thinking I might give it a quick turn over & bang in some chicken manure pellets
then just throw some more poppy seeds in it
when I thought hang on what's that oh maybe mother nature has other ideas

So there may well be considerably less effort involved in my as little effort as possible approach to next doors bit
just taken those photos after a good hour of watching the birds out there
so far today
Blue tits
sparrows
Robins
Blackbirds
Starlings
Magpies
collard doves
pidgins
and what I think was a song thrush

inspired by your efforts so far this year i have got myself back out in my garden and am doing stuff again

i have dug and raked a 10x2 foot long flower bed and planted a double row of calendula officinalis the original "pot" marigold, the bed is visible from the kitchen window when i am washing the dishes and the orange glow when the flowers are out is stunning

to get six winter garden plants i ordered in the mail into the ground i had to dig over a small rescue bed for them to await the eventual digging of the winter garden, i am a little behind

but the biggest surprise yet was having both the motivation and the energy to mow all the back garden areas of lawn in one afternoon, it was only on setting 'e' so not much was cut off, maybe that is why it was easier this time

in any case i am back in action out in the garden ... digging the veg beds is next

happy gardening

Been out in the Garden too.... Planting Dhalia tubers and oriental poppy tubers... These are to provide cover for my Autos :-)
Secondly, I have been pricking out, and replanting some Lavender which I scattered into a trough last year before winter...hopefully providing an aroma to disguise the smell :-)
Thirdly, planted some primula viialli into a large pot.
Finally, mixed some grit, and compost with fish blood and bone, and dug it into my flowerbed.

Prep, prep, prep....

That's a good plan do the work now and relax and enjoy it all later in the year

Well my week off work to get stuck in to mine didn't quite go to plan
I had already lifted a clump of geranium from the back and had a few ideas for what to do there
I had given the grass a quick cut on a high(ish) setting a couple of weeks before
As much to check the mower as I had just ordered a new one so I could send the old one to my mum & dads

And then on the Friday night I had just finished work for the week off my mum had a fall and ended up in hospital
Just to make things interesting my dad had, had a cataract done the day before, and my mum is classed as his carer
so it was all hands to the pumps, my sister also decided I needed to get away for a day or 2 and told me to bugger off mid week
so the end result is small amount done in my garden, a bit more done at my Mum & Dads
And I have resorted to buying a couple of plants for mine!!
It looks like it will be a long job with my Mum, hairline fracture of a vertebra
I have a few photos to try to sort out & could do to take some more
So will try to put them up at some point
One thing I must say is
While at times this last week it has felt like my brain was about to start running out of my ears
the few times I have managed to sit out on the bench with a coffee or beer and a smoke, listening to the birds and spotting the fact that spring has arrived
Has stopped me ending up sitting in a corner blowing bits of paper off the end of my nose

It's a real pleasure to see the gardeners back in action, well done peeps helping to keep the planet beautiful. :D :D :D.

I think I might follow Twitch'o example and put a couple of auto's outside this year in among a few bits of shrubbery. I tried a haze last year among my tomato's, but I got a bit paranoid when it got to about 2 metres and had left the tomato's far behind so I had to chop it. My garden is quite overlooked by the upper windows of the surrounding houses but I could get away with something up to a metre, any way I will give it a go. I've got some of Automaria II (sativa) and some Pandora (Indica).

Is it still a bit early to put them in yet or should I go for it :?:
What a long strange trip it is.

Dunno about dan saf in Londonshire, but up here, despite the loverly sunsheeeiinnnee over the last few days, its still march
So I intend to wait till at least mid April, maybe 420, before I germinate anything... For what its worth, my car was ever so sligtly frozen just last week after most nightshifts.... Jackie boy frost is a sneeky wee punk :-)

This is my new buisness. I put up the greenhouse last year and had a short growing(learning) season because I did not get the plants into the greenhouse untill late July. Every thing is grown hydroponically and every thing except the roll up sides on the greenhouse are all automated to save work/time. I owned a construction company for 20 years and just needed somethig new in life. I tried being a machinist working for someone else, but it did not work out because after 20 years of being my own boss working for someone else just did not work. In 2 to 4 weeks it will be nice enough to plant my outside garden.
