Hi everyone, this is L. I decided to go in and make this neater for Hestia. Here is everything about the trip posted to date. the new entry is toward the bottom

Amsterdam 2010, 420 Cup

Day 1

After 6 months of planning, printing, drawing and dreaming....finally, finally, finally! It's time to be off to Amsterdam. 16 whole days, from April 15 to May 1st, I am so looking forward to it.

I'm going to make not only 420 but also Queens Day! My bag is packed with posters, maps and name tags for the 420 Cup. It's been a lot of work and thought for a lot of people. I think it's going to turn out fantastic! Most likely there will be 45 - 50 people show up, "Good Lord willin' an'the crick don't rise". I mean, what could go wrong now? Everything has been thought out, we have taken care of it as best as possible, and a monster party is going to happen. Let's Go, Go, Go! I woke up to sunny skies an fine weather. The TV Forecaster says it will be 80F and clear skies by take off time.

Something tells me I've been a bit of a pain in the Ass lately, L has made sure I'm at the airport in plenty of time to make the flight. Three hours early! As a matter of fact, well I can't say that I blame him, all the dear man has heard for the last 6 months is 420 this and 420 that . I'd be dropping me off early too! Like a week or two. Yes, I can be a real rectal cramp. So I wait impatiently for the call to board the first leg of the journey, Detroit Michigan to pick up my international flight to Amsterdam. It is uneventful except for sitting next to a woman with very frazzled hair and a very young unhappy baby. Oh, well, it's just for a few hours, then we'll part. Besides she's just a nice woman trying to get back home from a visit to family.

We landed in Detroit on schedule and I picked p my next plane right on time, cool. Cooler still is that on the long haul the seat next to me is empty, so I have some room to stretch out and rest. Also--the movie Avatar is available on the in-flight movies. I have wanted to see it, I just haven't had the time. Now I do, 9 hours worth of free time. It was a good movie, unlike airline food which I didn't like. So I take a nap for a while. When I woke up I looked at my watch and the in-flight map and realized that we were running a bit late. Oh, well, we'll be there soon enough. I'm just excited is all. 9:30 or 10:30, what's the big deal?

Then the strangest thing happens! The pilot comes over the intercom and said that the reason we were running late is that there had been a volcano in Iceland erupt and the plane had to fly around the edge of the dust cloud! A volcano, where in the hell did that come from? Oh, well! I'm not going to worry about this! Iceland is over a thousand miles away from Amsterdam so what could possibly go wrong?

Hot damn! We were getting ready to touch down. Amsterdam 420 and Queens day, here I come! History is about to be made, stoner style. As soon as the plane door opened I had my carry on and I was moving out double quick. Amsterdam! One of my most favorite places in the whole world. I galloped from customs to the ticket counter, got my train ticket to Central Station and loaded up for the short ride that seemed to last forever.
Then all of a sudden the train comes to a stop. I got off quickly and found myself moving through Central Station, out the main entrance and into Amsterdam. The smell, the buildings the ambiance that is Amsterdam all hit me. The first thing on my agenda was to find my room and drop off my bag, settle in a bit and see what's going on. My room is right about the Greenhouse Lounge with a nice Israeli lady. She is a very nice woman, but I am afraid I found the room a bit of a disappointment (that's the only thing I am going to say about it)

But on the other hand, the location is great. Also you can smoke or whatever you want to do, she's very cool with it all. I have my own keys and my landlady makes me fresh coffee and sets up my Internet for me every morning. She also loaded me up with gifts to take back home with me. So all in all I'm cool with it. So after getting settled in my room I go downstairs to my landlady's private apt and bless her heart she hands me a huge doobie all ready rolled up waiting. After that she lights up a pipe of excellent Netherlands hash. Buzz, Buzz, super buzz a super good welcome. Thanks!

I tell her about the 420 to do. She says that she hopes that the Volcano doesn't mess up the 420 for me and we just laugh it off, ha, ha ha. But now I've heard that they're shutting down the airport because of the dust cloud. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to be concerned about. After all, it's just a cloud! I'm carrying 20 LB of 420 paper goods, nothing can stop us now.

OOPS, it's already after 11:00! I need to hit the streets and speak with the chosen coffee shops about the 420 Cup parties and judging. 1st stop HGF. I get a gram of am haze. fair weed. They are happy to have the 420 party and have a good supply of weed. Lot's of people are talking about the volcano in worried tones. That this is the first time the airport has been closed since 9/11 !!

2nd stop it the Green Place. A good coffee ship, with a nice bud tender who is happy to have the 420 crowd show up, no problem. And the weed is excellent I buy 1 gram train wreck & 1 gram of blue cheese. Both were fine buds. The blue cheese has an awesome sweet taste and a wonderful high. The train wreck was also excellent, a fine example of a quality smoke. After a 2 pipe smoke up and a hot chocolate, I'm off to my next coffee shop. 3rd stop Basjoes, one of my all time favorite shops.

As I walk in the door, James is standing behind the bar. As he looks up and sees me standing there a big smile comes onto his face. He steps out, we hug and then we kiss, Amsterdam style. It's so good to be back!

I order a coffee and grab a seat at the bar. When James brings me my drink, he sets up 2 big and different buds in front of me and says "smoke these up". So I did, I mind quite well . Holy Shit! King James special and LA Conn. 2 most excellent weeds. I buy a gram of LA con and one of Basjoes special, which is always a good choice.

While I was there who do I meet but Island Girl, Blueberry & Dirty Uncle Ron. All super nice people. Blueberry and Island Girl and just beautiful women inside and out, kind funny & sweet. They are total awesome smokers. They made me feel like a total amateur in comparison., I kid you not! After introductions, hugs & handshakes we grab the big table by the bar and here comes SoulRider. It's so good to see him again. he grabs a seat and we all get to rolling' an smoking' an terminating' too, after around an hr. Or so Dirty Uncle Ron has to leave , to reach Central Station in time to catch a train home to Germany. We then proceeded to part 2 of a massive T. buzz. After this we hit the road to get some air and head towards Amnesia coffee shop and get milk shakes, mine was chocolate. They were very good, but 4 Euros apiece! I think Island Girl got some super silver haze here. After this we all parted for a bit and met later at Popeye's. Wile here I'm laughing my ass off at Island Girl and her bike riding experience with blueberry. Maybe she needs to rethink and stay on foot or tram. Because she certainly doesn't seem to be able to stay on the bike. While we were here, I bought a gram of pink cush. It was OK, but not as good as I had hoped. Also pricey at 14 Euros a gram. This is were Island Girl got online and made the starting report.

Then we were all starving so it's off to burger bar. Excellent food -burgers and pomme frittes. My favorite, yum, yum. We all hand back happy plates (empty). Next we all cross the street to the 420 to let them know that we would be there again for the 420 this year. They are very cool with it. I just love this coffee shop, they are very welcoming. I bought a gram of blueberry here. It could have been better but very smokable and only 8 Euros a gram.

Then onto Hunters coffee shop. By this time, its just me and Island Girl. Blueberry had to leave and meet some friends. This is a nice friendly shop. I bought a gram of dark star. Pretty good weed. Island bought a shit load of stuff.. also We got free drinks here, I don't know if it was because of the amount of weed & hash bought or because the Australian bud tender was smitten with island girl. He just kept grinning at island girl the whole time we were there. How cute. They are also cool with the 420 showing up...go figure.

Well its been a long day and evening. I'm buzzed and bushed, so we all make our way back to our separate crashes to sleep and rest up for tomorrow. Stopped an got some munchies on my way back to my room. Opened the door, puffed up all those damn stairs to my room. Dropped off my goodies & went out to use the bathroom. By now, I'm doing the pee-pee dance gallop, knees pressed together down the hall & run into an Italian man, Alberto. Tall ,dark and no English. He rents long term here. He smiles, takes my hand and says something in Italian that sounds as warm and sugary as maple syrup. Unfortunately I don't speak Italian. I tried to respond with class. Yeah! wrong ! wheeze, slobber and stagger away dancing like an idiot. I've got to go.!!!! Turning toward the bathroom I then ran smack dab into two young Spanish men, Miguel & Jose, cooking something that smelled wonderful in the kitchen. They smiled and asked if I wanted to have dinner with them. They are renting the room next to me. They're all just super sweet, but if they don't move right this moment, I'm going to wet us all down.!!! Although I know this is Amsterdam and people are open to most things, I am not ready to give them an accidental free golden shower. They get the hint and get out of the way. I think that I scared them. Sorry guys!

YES,YES,YES what heaven, what joy. what bliss. And two ply toilet paper soft and cushy to boot.!!! After coming back out I apologize for trampling everyone and passed on their very kind offer for dinner. I had already scored chocolate. Yum. Then I shuffled and grunted my way back to my room, turned on the TV, loaded up a pipe of train wreck from the green place. Ripped open the chocolate with my teeth, gorged myself to semi-nausia. Lit up my pipe and sat in the front window right on the haarlemstraaat and watched live roll by down below me, then I put on Jammies, pulled the curtains and went to the land of nod.

Day 2, April 16, Friday

I wake up about 7:00. I'm an early riser, comes from being raised on a farm. You have to get up early to milk them chickens and slop them cows, ya know. Slept pretty well, a bit noisy, but after all I am staying just over the Greenhouse lounge so what else should I expect. No fighting or scrapping, just singing and laughing a lot. I don't mind. It just sounds like young life. Anyway, now it's morning and Holy Crap. I need a hot shower in the worst way. I mean that seriously. I've been up and about roughly 36 hr. without benefit of soap and water and I smell like it.

So, after de-stinking myself, a big cup of hot coffee. I know this sounds terrible, but I brought my own coffee with me. Tasters Choice instant. Yes I am a total caffeine savage. But what can I say? I like my coffee sweet, hot and way way easy. Sounds like an ex-husband of mine.

Back to my room to drink my first caffeine of the day and load up a pipe of Basjoe's special. Oh, yeah, that's the ticked! Just what I needed. One more cuppa joe, finish my pipe, dress and start moving toward the stairs.

On my way out, I run into two more young men, from Sweden initially. They live in an apartment on the 4th floor. Damn, Y, what are you running here, a freakin' men's club? I go down the stairs to Y's apt on the 2nd floor and have my 3rd cup of coffee Amsterdam style, and use the computer for a little bit. I ask her about all the men, she just cackled loudly and lit a joint.

Well it seems that bitch of a volcano is still spewing out smoke and ash. The airports all over Europe are shutting down until it stops. I'm terribly afraid this will negatively affect the 420 gathering. I hope not, but it's not looking good. I feel a chill in my heart. But there's still time, let's hope for the best.

After a pleasant visit with the landlady, I'm out the door, headed towards Picasso's coffee shop for my first stop. There it is, and open too. I slide up the bud bar and ask the bud tender what weed was good for traveling and what about the free breakfast mentioned in the window. Here's the deal. if you buy 12.5 Euros of weed you get an Amsterdam style of breakfast...bread, cheese, sausage a drink. Not bad. So I got 1.60 grams of poison. Not a bad smoke at all. pretty buds! It put a hop in my step and a buzz in my head. So all in all it worked out pretty good. As I left I told the bud tender I would seem him in the morning as I was staying close by. I like to give people a warning.

It's a beautiful sunny morning , clear blue skies, no wind and the crowds are already starting to move and flow in that particular Amsterdam way. Bikes everywhere weaving and rolling along, just lovely. Standing on a canal bridge I pull out my trusty ACD map and start making my way toward the Jordaan and the paradox coffee shop. Now, I've been to the paradox a couple of times and always have a bitch of a time finding it. So this time I go the Black Star coffee shop first.

Now this shop is easily found being on a busy street, So I boogie in the door and ask the nice bud tender, a Jamaican dude smoking a blunt and ask him where the paradox is. He tells me how to get there the easy way, across the street and down the alley. I had no problem finding it then. But first, while at the Black Star, I bought a gram of their Guiana weed, super cheap 5 Euro a gram. I had read that this was a good weed from the ACD reports. I had wanted to try some. I was pleasantly surprised. A good smoke, especially for the price, a heavy creeping buzz, nice.

So after this I floated out the door, across the road, down the side street and there it was the Paradox coffee shop. A sweet neighborly shop, mostly locals with a few tourists like me. A very nice bud tender, very willing to help, very informative and pleased as punch with the 420 coming to party. But like everyone else he is wondering and worrying about the volcano cloud. Still hoping for the best.

One of the cool things about the Paradox is that they sell 5 Euro bags, so you don't have to break the bank to try a lot of different weeds. I think that this is an excellent idea. I tried an AM Haze, and some Jamaican. Also a hot chocolate. And all 3 were pretty good. A fine shop, I will certainly visit again.

After a nice visit I asked the bud tender what time it is and find it's already 11:00. Yikes! I need to be headed to the Leidesplein to find out about the St. Nicholas boat trip. I get there and Shit fire, they are closed due to some bad press online. Someone said they charged for their rides so the city took them to court, again!. So they're closed until the mess is cleared up, again!.. Well no canal trip this time. This so sucks! While I was in liedsplean quare I went by Dolphins coffee shop and picked up a gr. Of the white dolphin weed 10 Euros, I think ? a excellent smoke, bit harsh but a massively good high, just right for my walk back to meet the others.

Well, on towards Popeye's to meat up with Blueberry, Island girl and pal. Out the door stagger to the left and off I go again. It's such a pleasure to walk along the canals in the Jordaan. Such a pretty place. Trees and flowers blooming in small riots of colors. Dark red bricks and white window sills. charming! Ah, here's Popeye's. I go in and see I'm the first one there. Go up to the bud tender, buy a gram of Jack Herrner and a cup of coffee. Not a bad smoke a bit dry and crumbly but a fair buzz. I grab the big table in front, plunk myself down, pull out my pipe and get lit up again while waiting for the others to show. Also sitting at the big table, back in the corner all by herself is a young lady from Canada, stranded by the cloud. So we chat and buzz awhile .Poor baby!

Around 2:00 Blueberry , Island Girl and pal show up, have a seat at the table and proceed to start rolling up joints, I'm not sure what kind. I lost track . Before we got very far along in our efforts the owner comes over with a big hookah pipe loaded to the rim with sweet cannabis and invites us all to smoke up. The first one to take a pull on the hookah is blueberry. She hits it like Mike Tyson, then hacks up a lung, turning a remarkable shade of pink. Easy there BIB. The hookah may makah you pukah. The next person to try is me, of course. Well now, I hit that big puppy just as gentle as a cream puff and didn't cough a lick. TA DA! But he real reason I didn't' hit it big is simple . my old lungs don't expand that far any more.!!! But a good time was had by all and a Buzz was achieved

Now, as I had mentioned earlier, there was a young, stranded girl sitting with our group. Blueberry got to talking to her and offered to help her find a safe room at the bike shop/hotel where she rented her bike. She had had business with the nice people there before. Blueberry even got on her bike, rode over there and made sure there was a room. What a nice thing to do.

Well, time to go, so we all go over to the 420-De Kuu. We get drinks and a table in back. I got some silver haze a cold drink Miss. was recognized.!!! She's a star !!!with her vids & web page Wow! She was even given some free Blueberry weed to acknowledge her weed queen status, how cool. The 420 is also very pleased to be in another new video taped by Blueberry, of course. .

Now I was starving. Island Girl and me both, Blueberry had already eaten. On our way over to the Green peace Coffee shop, Island Girl and I stopped in an Argentine steak house and had dinner. The food was fine, but really, 4.5 Euros for a pop? And then paying for ketchup? Give me a break! I just ordered a whole dinner and you want me to pay for a condiment? Oh well, I need to get over myself, eat and move on.

Next stop Greenhouse. A lovely shop, I consistently get good service there. They have a clean bathroom and excellent weed without fail Island Girl went wild here and loaded up on multiple grams, lot's of Euros. I can't blame her, the smoke here is wonderful. The Blueberry cheese in particular is superb, sweet to the throat and kind to the lungs. And will kick you in the Ass. It's not a very often when I just stop what I'm doing and say "damn, I'm high" and really mean it. Island Girl was of the same opinion of the Blueberry cheese, she too was blasted we were both slashed when we left. Had to get to Basjoe's, more party to happen there. At Cisco's T & T.

It's a pretty walk, a little chilly, but I'm so buzzed I wouldn't care if it was snowing or even if a volcanic cloud was overhead. Yeah, right!

We walk in the door and are greeted by Soulrider already in the main booth/table. And by James of course, standing behind the bar and smiling his gentle sweet stoned smile. And so the party commences. But where are Cisco and Blueberry? You guys are missing one hell of a stone out.. Joints are going around in a maddeningly fast rate. It's almost impossible to keep up. And then a joint of Jack Henner with Terminator was pass around and around, then another round and round again. I'm so sorry but I cant quite remember who all as there that night, but I believe that we were all just racked up, I know I was. It was great! Well it's getting kind of late for an old broad like me. so I'm ready to head back to my digs , Brrrr! It's freakin' cold out tonight ( I'm not used to the cold anymore).

Stop at a little shop on my way to buy a coke lite an munches of some kind. Then hit the door of my crib and puff up the stairs from hell. There isn't any landing to stop and catch your breath until the 3rd floor. Yips! These steps would make a mountain goat wheeze!

Make it to my room, drop off my goodies and go to the kitchen for a glass of ice for the coke light. Say hi to the conga line of boys in the hallway, put some stuff in the fridge and wash up a bit.

Saunter back to the room, turn-on the tube, put on jammies, turn down the bed ,fluff up the pillows and load up a pipe with some la con. from Basjoe's Get comfy & warm. Have a few tokes, drink my glass of pop , turn off the lamp, then fast to sleep. Good night.
****

Day 3, April 17, Saturday

My eyes creak open about 7:00 or so. I roll over look out the window and see a fresh blue sky smiling at me. I just love the early morning in Amsterdam. Streets still damp from the overnight dews. Shopkeepers opening their doors and calling morning greetings to each other. The sound of the first morning bikes jingling along. Click, click, click strong quick and sure, the sound of heels, women, the Dutch Girl walk.

First impressions of the day, now to explore further. Up and to the kitchen to get my first pot of coffee, American style. Gulp, burn, Gulp, burn. Put it down Hestia, give it a chance to cool. So hot shower & hair all done, now the coffee si cool enough to drink. Gulp, aaa, Gulp, aaa.

Back to my room, dress for the day, pour another cup of coffee and load a pipe of Picasso's poison to start my motor running and so on. Well, I've fiddled and farted along as much as I can. I might as well turn on the TV to the news to see what is happening with the Ash cloud and the airport. Horrible news. It seems that everything air wise is shut down. Better yet, they will be shut down for several days in the future. So, so there it is, spelled out in ashy letters, the 420 is busted.

I actually feel my heart lurch in my chest, missing a partial beat and my vision grayed around the edges before coming back to normal. So I just sit, still and quietly, just for a bit, letting my mind go blank, trying desperately for a moment not to lose control... After all, tears don't really help at all.... No they don't not at all.... My face is wet. I said I wouldn't.....

Day 3, April 17, Saturday, contd.
OK, I'm back. It's all right now, I'm better. :) Life goes on, besides, I'm having a super time. Called and talked to L. He helped soothe my bruised psyche as always. Come on, I'm in Amsterdam. The sun is shining, the weed is top notch, most of all the people I'm with IG & BB and everyone else who's been fortunate enough to make it are the most awesome bunch of people I think I've ever met. :D Sure the whole volcano thing sucks total hind tit... but there ain't a thing I can to about it except get out there and party my ass off...So I take off my watch and throw it in my dresser drawer. From now on time doesn't matter. I'll follow the sun and my own inner clock.

And no more makeup either. I've been wearing this stuff on my face for 4 days now and my face is hurting me. NO, I don't usually wear makeup, what you see is what you get   . So now I have a freshly washed and creamed face. My hair is pulled back clean and comfy. Now that's better. I guess I'd better admit that vanity raised her well coifed head and tried to make me something I'm not. Well, I've done quit that shit. I've gown used to the way I look...I look like me. L was confused by my need to change myself, but as usual he tried to be supportive, even when he doesn't understand. Bless his heart. But he was right when he said" I like your face, always have, always will" Love him. Good man, my man.

So on with my coat, grab my gear and out the door and down the steps. I'll skip Internet and coffee this morning with Y. I'll make it up to her later. For now, I need to be gone from here and running free. So now it's me, tock, tock, tock. doing the Dutch girl walk it's my heals clicking on the sidewalk,...for about 3 blocks until I see Picasso's coffee shop and besides that I'm starting to wheeze.... :) I think I'll go back to the Florida girl shuffle.

So into Picasso's, my favorite weed and feed. UP to the counter, say good morning to the bud tender. And ask what's good today. He says the amnesia haze is top drawer. 1.4 grams + breakfast for 12.50 Euros. Very nice weed easy on the thoat, quite hazy and a good long buzz. I said to the bud tender to please just give me one slice of bread , cheese, sausage and coffee and keep the rest. Don't waste it. He was happy to oblige. He even gave me a free water to take with me. I love sitting in their big front window and watching the traffic flow by. An excellent way to start the day.

But now it's time to go, the sun is calling me and I'm answering back. I do a little shopping for some take home gifts then go to the 420 dekul for a cup of lady earl grey and a gram of blueberry with a lovely clean bong. Another marvelous shop, excellent service, good weed and a comfortable decor and decent music, especially for an old head like me. Last but not least, you can get to the lady's rest room without having to become a spelunker (caver). The blueberry was a bit dry today, but the stone was good. So I'm a happy camper. Truly a nice way to spend an hour ago.

Well it's time to shove off and go to Dutch Flowers to meet IG & BB. I've always liked Dutch Flowers. It's one of the best places in town in my opinion to people watch. Especially in good weather. The outdoor seating is superb. Although I've never been overly impressed with their weed. Don't get me wrong. It's OK, just not spectacular. But because I got their a bit early and went inside to get a cold pop, I took a look at their menu and much to my surprise :o , they had Silver Pearl, another weed I'd been wanting to try. 1 gram please! Nice tight buds with a good smell. I think I only paid 8-9 Euros for it.

So outside, grab a table, and load a pipe with the Silver Pearl. This was a really good clear high, it matched perfectly with the surroundings. At the table next to me is a middle aged Englishman who was stranded in Amsterdam because of the ash cloud and had decided all resistance was futile, so kick back , light up and enjoy the day. He pointed out something interesting to me, there were no airplane contrails in the sky. As a matter of fact the skies over Amsterdam and most of Europe were clear of most such things for the first time in years. How weird is that? It was true. The sky was like a fresh washed delft blue sheet, in the air there was a feeling of expectation about what the future might bring.

At about this time I see BB coming over the bridge on her bicycle. 8) I ask her where she was last night. She said she had had a headache, so she had gone back to the apartment and taken some Tylenol. But she messed up and took Tylenol PM instead. So she laid down and totally crashed out. But today she feels top dollar and ready to go. So she parks and locks the bike, goes inside Dutch Flowers and gets a drink. Comes back out, gets comfy outside and takes a hit on the silver pearl. She seems to like it OK too. So we sit and visit for a spell, watching the crowds go by, until we see IG moseying along at her own pace, just doing her own thing. 8) That's IG all right.

After getting a drink and sitting down with us. She tells us she's had a most lovely walk through the joordan, just walking along listening to her music having an Amsterdam interlude. After everyone gets settled, IG or BB trolled up a silver Pearl joint and we just enjoyed the nice buzz for a while. Afterwards IG and I walked over to the tram so we could go to the Albert Coop market. BB was going ahead on her bike and would meet us there. A nice quick easy trip and we were there.

The Albert Coop is a great place to go. IG bough a really nice brown leather purse that matched her boots and coat perfectly I think she just paid 25 Euros for the purse, not a bad deal. BB and I stopped and the candy, dried fruit stand and got some goodies. Dried sweet strawberries and milk chocolate.yum, yum!

Then we went to the Katzu coffee shop. I like this shop even though they have pre weighted bags. I believe we all got the Black Widow. It was in 20 Euro per bag. We got drinks and sat at the big front window table and copped a huge buzz. Me likey Black Widow, yes indeedey :) :) :D . A super heavy stone, accompanied by munchies.in a big way!

So we went back to the market and bought fresh made steubenwaffles for 1 Euro each. These are sooo good! Hot sweet & sticky, a real must have. Afterwards IG & I were still hungry, so we stopped a a booth and got Chicken Sate with peanut sauce, another excellent choice, good stuff, and that's just what I did...., stuff it in.!

After all the shopping, smoking and munchies, we decided to take the tram back to the central dam area. But before we got there I grabbed IG and we got off at the diamond exchange in the red light district & I showed her the back way to Basjoes coffee shop. BB met us there and we all went in and sat down at the main table. got ourselfs some drinks and smoked some bas special and la con .James as always was a super host!
After about an hour we all staggered out and headed to the Ness. When we got to the Ness it was hopping' and right in the middle of it all was "the man" DC. All smiles and Amsterdam kisses times 3. What a sweetie he is a wonderful host par excellence. But if you don't look out, he will get you so high that you're oozing off the chair.!!!

There were so many vapo bags going around it looked like the macies thanksgiving day parade...baloons everywhere and joints, and joints with hash, isolator, terminator, etc. It seemed like a never ending cloud of joy. We all had a super time, what we can remember of it that is.! Finally, at about 11:00 I was totally happily stoned. But getting so tired I decided it was about time for me to be getting along to my bed. So IG, Lamps & I left out of the Ness bidding good night to my fellow stoners. I wrapped my scarf around my neck, tucked my Greek fisherman cap down on my head and wandered home. In the door, I puff and cuss my way upstairs to my room, take off my hat and coat and shoes . My poor feet are sooo tired . So I rub my feet for a bit ,put on PJ's , get a cold drink from the kitchen. Use the bathroom...no men running around tonight to terrorize. Go back to my room, load a pipe with Basjoes' special, get into bed. Drink some of my drink, take a couple of hits from the pipe and I'm sound asleep in 30 seconds or less. :)

I'm glad you combined 'em, gf, makes it easier to keep track of while reading. ;-)

Man the chicken satay we got at the Albert Cuyp market really was excellent and only 2 euro, right? I could make a meal out of that and grapes there! Grapes are a must have for Katsu from now on... the fruit we got was as big of a hit as the weed the day we had the group with us. I can see the guys nodding their heads in agreement now lol 8)

Heres' the next installment :) :) :)

Day 4, April 18, Saturday, contd.

I opened my scratchy red eyes to another beautiful sunny morning, roll over and try to go back to sleep.. Nope, no way. I'm awake and that's all there is to it. So I sit up, stagger to my feet and zombie walk down the hall to the kitchen for a coffee fix. I stop at the bathroom on the way and drain the beaver. As I walk out of the bath, I run into Eduardo and friends coming out of their room. Now at this point it comes to me that I must look pretty bad, because Eduardo and pals look by turn shocked, afraid and amused. :) So not to be rude, I scrape the grime off of one bloodshot eye, (the other still glued shut) and tried to smile with dried cracked lips and say good morning. It turned into a smokers hack with a wheeze on the end. Yeah, needless to say, I impressed the piss out of these boys. :) I could tell by the speed with which they made their exit. Oh, well, sorry y'all aint got no sense of humor boys.

Oh, well, zombied back to my room, coffee in one hand, scratching my armpit with the other. Now I just happen to be unlucky enough to glance in the mirror as I pass. :o   Oh, dear goddess! No wonder they split! I've seen better looking heads on a cabbage. I know what I'll do...stop looking in the mirror, dammit. :) Luckily after two cups of coffee, a hot shower and some work, And a couple of nice pipes of silver pearl from Dutch Flowers ( It gives such a pretty high to start the day) .I don't wince when I glance in the mirror again. Good enough!

So I grab my stuff, and head down to Y's for more coffee and Internet access. And a couple of pipes of am haze for me, Y had some Nepalese temple ball. Oh, yeah, I am feeling much better now. And yes the ash cloud from the volcano is still screwing up my life, the bitch. But life goes on and so do I, so down the stairs and hit the streets for about half a second. I turn into the greenhouse lounge., go up to the bud tender and ask his advise about what would be a good weed for the day. He suggested the Alaskan Snow. Damn, damn and double damn, this is some good weed. :!: A super clear high and a stone on top of that that just keeps on growing. Oh, yeah! I also ordered a fresh mint tea, made with fresh mint. This tea and weed are both something not to be missed, superb. A really good way to spend an hour.

OK, time to go. I miss Picassos today because it's a bit later and I'm already buzzed. So off to the dam to look around a bit at the shops and the carnival. I had a sausage sandwitch from the food stall there, pretty good.it filled the empty spot! And afterwards I walk to Dutch Flowers where I am to meet up with IG and BB. We're going to the Mellow Yellow today!.

As usual the seating at Dutch flowers is sunny and fine. I go inside, and get a cold drink and another gram of silver pearl. I really like this smoke...good but not too good if you know what I mean. Then I go the bathroom. How to explain their bathroom. It's not like going down stairs, it is like walking front wards down a ladder, the steps are horrendous. I think from now on at Dutch Flowers I'll just learn how to hold it. Enough bitchin' outside, grab my favorite table and watch the crowd go by . Endlessly interesting/ after a few minutes, here comes BB on her bike. And says she hasn't' eaten yet and is going to get something and will return as soon as possible. Also that IG was moving slow today, her back and legs were hurting her, nerve damage. So she will probably be a while getting there. Poor Baby! hell I'm in no rush, sitting outside Dutch Flowers in the sun, smoking some good silver pearl and letting the buzz take me where it will.

After an hour, BB has eaten and returned, and rolled a joint of the Alaskan Snow from greenhouse lounge. Here comes poor IG over the bridge, she's not moving very fast at all. She sits down groaning and takes a rest. We lite up the joint of Alaskan Snow kick back, and work up a good buzz. And then IG says she's ready to walk to the Mellow Yellow. About this time I notice that this little girl had the balls of a brass monkey. She actually got up in pain and walked to the Mellow yellow. It's a pretty fair walk but she made it. Luckily, Mellow Yellow had hash brownies at a good price. She bought two and gobbled them right up. After about an hour it took the pain off. Along with that they had S5 haze. A brilliant smoke, totally awesome. :!: A strong weed with a long chatty stone. I think IG got 5 grams of this along with her brownies. Then we all went upstairs with our drinks and smokes to party and there was Spider God, Treetop, Lamps and others for the 420. Spider God made me the most wonderful T-shirt with the weed witch on it and I'll keep it forever!. Every time I take it out I will remember that wonderful time at the Mellow yellow. We partied out. Friendship and laughter, it was great. The icing on the cake is that IG says her pain has all gone away...Sweet!

So, now with the sun shining down on us, BB, IG myself treetop, Lamps and others leave and start moving back toward the central area., where I believe we hit the green place for some more Blue cheese. Bummer they're out. So BB says she knows a cool shop called Styx coffee shop about a 5 minute walk from green place. And as is so often the case in Amsterdam, all you have to do is get off a main street or square and it's a a totally different world. The Styx is in a beautiful spot, the old building, the small canal an absolutely stunning setting. That said, they also had some totally bitchin' hash and such ( for more info on what kind, ask IG and BB they were the ones buying it, not me) I know nothing about hash and such other than smoking it while in Amsterdam. That summed up the product from Styx. Damn.

After this back to the greenhouse. The blueberry cheese has arrived :D and IG was a happy camper. I just got my usual train wreck. I really like this smoke and it is affordable too, 10 Euro a gram. We didn't stay very long this time, then we were off to Basjoe's. Poor IG, she's tired and has had a very busy day for someone who was in such pain this morning. So after our usual visit with James, game little broad that she is! we took off to towards the Ness in dam square. DC was there and is the most marvelous host ever, a total sweetie and a smoke god. DC stuck some of his isolator on a joint, handed me a Cassis and lit us up and let IG ,Treetop, lamps and me fly away. IG and treetop were drinking that 8% beer. I don't know how they do it, I'd be flat on my ass if I even tried it. And then there were more joints being passed around and vapo bags too, of course.Ripped agin ! Well, it's getting late so I'd better get out and start back towards my own bed. lampshade being the gentleman that he is, said he would make sure IG got home safely
(And he did.)

I walk out of the Ness, an hit the Albert Hine for munchies. On my way back to the room I stop at the Dampkring and get an excellent hot chocolate. Lots of whipped cream, sprinkles and in a good sized cup too. :) And a gram of silver haze. A good buzz. I think? a good price, I think. :?: ? I think I know why they call it a haze.!

I'd better go now. Too buzzed and too bushed to deal with it anymore for now. So out the door and walk the long 2 blocks back to my crib. Wobble up the stairs from hell, suddenly I'm face to face with the Israeli track team!WTF!!. What's Y doing, manufacturing men in the attic. Oh, God, that' where they're heading, up to the attic 5 floors up. I can't hardly wait to ask Y what's going on and I'm going to find out tomorrow morning. come hell or high water. But it's going to have to wait until tomorrow, because now it's time to call it a night.

I go into my room, open the window, its hot in here. Put on my pajamas, load a pipe with silver haze, open my munchies, turn on some music , and give up the day. Good night!

Sorry everyone, but I can't post this sunday. I'm in Texas/OK. with L. and his family over the 4th of July. They live on a cattle ranch situated on the Chisum trail and sometimes I forget how beautifull the west is,and how BIG!!miles and miles of Rolling plains, golden grass for as far as the eye can see....Fat polled hearfords(short legged)trundeling up to the big barn for there morning cow chow. big round dark red bodies and fine white faces there eyes bright with antsipation of goodies to come!! Lots of Cows with frisky calfs ,kicking up there heels in the bright morning sunshine, tossing there heads in the air as if to say GOOD MORNING. But wait!! Bringing up the rear of the heard is Junior the head bull and he's and he's just Georgous, huge of chest and wide of hip- massive in his prime....King of the ranch!! He stops for a moment ...lowers his regal head....scrapes his hoofs on the ground bringing up big puffs of dirt into the air and from deep within his great cave of a chest comes a rumbeling that works up untill slowly bulding in volum untill lifting his great head.....BELLOWS Showing his place in the heard....as the rest of the cattle part like the red see did for Moses...first in line...yes indeed king of the ranch. :D 8)

Hi, guys :) BAck from OK and Tx. Ok cooler than normal for this time of year, no triple digit temp while we were there. 8) RAin delays on the flight back, only about 4 hours late getting back :)

here's the next post, enjoy:

Day 5, April 19, Saturday, contd.

I wake up burring under the covers, burr. I'm freezing! :o Oh shit, I forgot to close the big window next to my bed it's open, no wonder I'm shivering my ass off! I move quickly and close the window. Then nimbly jump back into bed until it warms up. Yeah right, I'll just do that. What I really do is creak, pop and groan my way out of bed, drag my ass over to the window, shut it and stagger back to bed once more. Oh crap, now I need to use the can. Well, while I'm in that area I might as well make coffee. Besides that, I just remembered that I said I'd go to the Monday morning new market with Y. As we have become closer, Y is doing her best to make me more comfortable in my room. In the last few days, every morning or evening, when I open my door, there is something new for my room.

At the beginning, although clean, the room only had a twin bed and a small dresser, that's it. Spartan at best. But now, I have a comfortable char and footstool, a bedside table and lamp, and a good sized mirror to hand over the dresser, and also two fair prints of Amsterdam to hang on the wall. To top it off a box of bongs and pipes to use as my leisure.

So today Y and I are going to new market for material to make curtains and a bed cover for my room. So I S. S. & S, gulp another cup of coffee, smoke a quick pipe of train wreck and head downstairs to Y's. After getting settled at the kitchen table with another cup of coffee and a joint, I ask Y where the new bun buns came from last night. She finally told me her secret. For the last few days, with the ash cloud and volcano stranding everyone, she has been collecting stranded young people from being stranded on the street, especially at night. Y said that if her daughter was out traveling and got into a bad situation that she would hope and pray that someone would take pity on her. That is exactly what Y was doing, taking pity on the young, being a good mother and a caring human being 8) . Isn't that wonderful. It was just circumstance that all the young people were male. Yes this is one to the things that makes me adore Amsterdam, the Amsterdamers. And I certainly ain't bitchin, I've got the best view in town. I feel like I am in a bakery, a bun factory.

So off we go to new market. Its a short walk and were there. I love markets in Amsterdam, something for everyone. Y found her fabric, a leopard print for the bed covering and gold for the curtains. I find a new top. flowing with lots of gauze.

After shopping we stopped at a cafe and had coffee and cookies while sitting in the sun and enjoying the moment. After that we parted, she towards home and me towards Popeye's coffee shop. I get another cup of coffee and a gram of vanilla cush. For 14 Euros a gram. Now this was good smoke, much better than the pink cush. It tasted lightly of vanilla and gave a wonderful buzz. So out the door and toward the central dam area.

By now I'm hungry and so go tot eh soup kitchen restaurant on Harlaamstrat near my room and have an early lunch. An excellent place. I had the grilled chicken salad an d a pop for 6 Euros. Lots of mixed green, tomatoes and grilled chicken, well worth the price. Full and happy, I now head towards the green place coffee shop to meet with the 420 group. I get there and order my usual. Black coffee and a gram of train wreck for 10 Euros a gram.

I grabbed the front table by the big window. Load my pipe with fresh train wreck and settle back for a buzz, sweet. Excellent buzz one of my favorites. Cool here comes Treetop in the door. He waves and heads to the counter. He gets chocolope. I like this smoke tasty and easy on the lungs. Treetop is a good smoking partner and a funny dude. Next there come BB and IG in the door. They grab a seat, got some drinks and IG gets some blue cheese, of course. Then we all sit down and proceed to get ripped right and proper. What a way to spend the afternoon in Amsterdam. Good company and good smoke.

Green house has become one of my favorite shops, a good hangout. But after an hour of getting totally ripped, we all started moving toward the homegrown fantasy for our next meetup. So off we all went, just walking along enjoying the sun and the buzz. Everyone goes into the homegrown fantasy, now I like this shop well enough and have been there several times before. This time, I'm afraid their gear wasn't' quite up to some of the other shops. Not as good as usual. Oh well, better luck next time. But treetop did buy some smoke, some haze I think, fair but nothing to write home about. After a bit we all left here and started on our way to the paradox coffee shop in the Jordaan.

Along the way we stopped for a light meal at a sweet little restaurant named the Next Door. I had the pea soup, very good. IG had soup as well and treetop had two huge pancakes. All was good and affordable too. We would definitely come back again. Now that were all full and happier, we start toward the paradox. Again this place was a bitch to find. After wandering around a while we finally found it. The paradox is another good shop that I always enjoy visiting. The bud tender is a nice man and you can get 5 Euro bags there too. Mostly locals with a sprinkling of tourists. I had a fruit smoothie that was good, the weed was nothing special that stood out, not bad, just nothing fancy. I enjoy this coffee shop, its cool and comfy, and you are made to feel welcome.

After we left, the bud tender actually came out and gave IG her grinder back that she had left on the table. An honest place not to be missed. Now we're off to Basjoe's its still sunny and beautiful as we work our way across dam square into the rld and into another of my favorite places. And there's James, sweet, smiling stoned as usual, standing behind the counter and serving customers. We all crowd into the front table by the bar ordering drinks and weed. I got a gram of Jack Herner. 9 or 10 Euros a gram a good smoke especially with a nice dollop of terminator. Thanks you James. Not to mention the LA Conn., King James special and some little scrawny assed joint that James handed to IG. She took a couple of big hits and handed it to me. By this time the joint was pretty much smoked up, probably a good thing, because I was able to work out two good hits that was definitely enough. I think my knees melted. I sat down and stayed down for the duration of the visit. All of a sudden, tragedy. IG has lost her cream white scarf, her favorite. Being a resourceful woman she runs tot eh corner shop and finds a replacement that looks almost like the other. Tragedy avoided. Then IG goes to the bathroom at Basjoes and guess what? She finds her original scarf on the floor there, where she had dropped it earlier. Yes, we were all wasted!

At about 10:00 p.m., I'm buzzed, bushed and beat. So we all part for the evening, I start towards my room, ready to call it a night. Good night!

I can hear you saying that, woman! Total 'hestia line' and your reports always bring me right back to the moment, gf. I remember everything you wrote about... and treasure the memories. Thank you for taking the time to jog them. 8)

I miss you, we need to have another dinner. Back from vacation and ready - the islands were fantastic! Of course I liked the Cozumel snorkel & private beach party the most, but swimming with the dolphins and sting rays in Grand Cayman was just as fun... okay can't decide, but those were better than Isla Roatan or Belize.

Sorry for the delay folks. you all know I'm medical and someone needed me. hope this makes up for it

Day 6, April 20, Sunday

Woke up this morning torn between elation and sorrow. Elation because today is 420 and I am spending it In Amsterdam with a totally cool crew of people who are simply outstanding folks. And sorrow because of all of the other brothers and sisters who couldn't make it this year because of the Volcano/ash cloud. Today I smoke in honor of all who couldn't make it -- enjoy!

To start 420 off right I rolled over in bed, reached out to the bedside table and picked up a pipe I had left loaded with Train Wreck from the Green House to start my morning off on the right foot! As always, Train Wreck is a super smoke, it never seems to disappoint. Then up out of bed and down the hall to the kitchen area for coffee. Check it out, there is a veritable conga line of fine, fine, firm young bun buns strutting down the hallway and stairs and into the kitchen and coming out of the bathroom :) . Holy Shit! I've died during the night and gone to pecker heaven! I mean there's more swinging' meat here than in a butcher shop window and all under 25! There's so much testosterone in the air I'm growing hair on my chest. Yipes, now I know how it feels to be the dirty old man (but as L told me, "if I had been there and the house was full of pretty young women, I never would have gotten out the door. I'd have sat in a chair in the hall with a bottle of Heiniken and never moved for the whole stay"  ) And they're just a lovely bunch of young fellow s too. Just as friendly and sweet as a bunch of puppies! Always polite and some good weed too. This morning while I'm making my coffee, there was a weed cloud in the kitchen, L A Con I think one of the boys said as he handed me a freshly lit joint. Tasty weed!

So back to my room to get a bag of train wreck to be rolled up by the bun buns while I get a shower and dress for the day. So there I am standing in a kitchen with my hair still wet and surrounded by beautiful young men, smoking my brains out.

 'Y', I yell down the stairway, get up here girl, I need to ask you something. So here she comes, galloping up the stairs and runs smack dab into a smoke out. I hand her a joint of Train Wreck and she tokes up big time.

The bun buns just adore 'Y', you can see it in their eyes and actions. And she loves them back - a true earth mother is 'Y'. 8)

So for about an hour we all smoke ,laugh, make coffee & hot tea, toast & jam. Enjoying each others company along with some serious weed and hash. Come to find out, we all had a stash to roll up a doob out of , and 'Y' broke out some of her favorite hash too! I don't remember what kind it was, it looked like a dark caramel and sweetish to the taste, yummy!

What a bitchin cool way to start the 420 morning. At around 10:30 I bid good by to all my house mates and make my way out the door into the streets of Amsterdam. Moving dreamily along until I came to Picasso's and decide it's time for a fill up. The guy behind the bar sees me come in and says that the Amnesia Haze is super good today. Fresh in that morning. Yes, I'll take that 1.6 grams for 12.50 Euros and don't forget the breakfast! But this morning it's different. The bud tender says that he didn't get his breakfast makings this morning, so how would I like fresh chocolate croissants from the bakery next door? 8) 8) Sweet! So I sat at the big front window smoking a pipe of Amnesia haze, drinking hot coffee and munching on fresh chocolate croissants. What heaven this is, the sun is shining down, the air is still, another beautiful day in the dam.

So up, out the door, leaving Picasso's, turning left and starting toward Dam square by way of central station. Really I'm just doing a bit of wandering around, enjoying the canals, buildings, turning corners and crossing bridges, encountering unexpected treasures with pleased eyes!

Oh, hey, here's Hunter's coffee shop. I could use some more weed for the partes today. So in I go and walk up to the bud tender and buy some of Dark Star. Tight buds and just bundles of weedy goodness. Make that two grams bud tender. But nothing seems to be going on to hold my interest so it turns out to be a buy and fly. Walking around the RDL, stop at Albert Hines and buy some water and munchies, apples and cookies and chocolate with hazel nuts), go catty corner across to the little park like sitting area around the Green House. I found myself a good sitting spot and chilled out a while. Fresh cookies, some chocolate and some water and a fine pipe of the Dark Star - I love Dark Star but it's a better evening weed, it is almost too strong for just a boogiein' around smoke, Ha!

But because of having a good snack along with the Dark Star, I was able to get motivated after a nice half hour rest. So toward the Dam, doing a little shopping as I go along, nothing big. Up and down the shopping streets, seeing interesting things to both sides.

And then I was in an area close to the flower mkt., that the also means that I 'm close to the Damkreig coffee shop! It's where we're all supposed to meet up. For a t&t then over to the kronspline(sp) web cam for the 420 wave!

As it's almost 1:30 I start wandering through the flower marked, enjoying the beautiful flowers in the stalls and make it to the dampkrieg with no problems at all. So in the door, across the room to the bud tender and upon his recommendation I got some Mex haze @12 Euros a gram. They were lovely sticky buds. Then over to the end of the bar, near the windows, next to the house cat and grab a coffee from the nice man behind the counter. And load a pipe with the Mex Haze. A very good smoke, excellent buzz. Along with my coffee the man behind the counter gave me a vanilla milkshake, free gratis! How nice! And an excellent milkshake, probably the best I had in the Dam! Thick rich and creamy - Yum!

At about this time Treetop, BB and most everyone else shows up.(except IG) We all grab stools at the bar and proceed to smoke up. I think treetop had some Mex Haze too. Then out the door and over to the square to do the 420 wave to everybody, not a large group, but an excellent, happy group none the less. :) :)

After this BB said that just down the street from the Dampkreig was a Pomme Fritte shop that was supposed to be the best in town. And I admit the Pomme Fritts were just awesome. Nice and crusty on the outside, steamy and flavorful on the inside. They really hit the spot. So we all just hung out for a spell, eating and drinking standing in the sunshine, letting the world roll by.

Then it's 4:00 and time to get moving towards the 420 de kull for the Party. We all walk in the door and there is IG and She's already saved an area in the front window.sweet! Everyone was packed in. The man who runs the 420 gave us a monster joint to start the party - woo! it looked like there was a fog bank in there. Joints, bags, my goodness! It was a wonderful buzz but I needed a place to take a rest, My dogs are barking at me and so I sat at a table catty corner along the wall and watched the party. Soon my table was packed too. The old fogies table, I guess. More fog banks! I'm serious you couldn't hardly see because of the weed clouds. " totally bitchen" at around 6:30 we all started moving toward the Nes, how beautiful it was, the evening sun shining down, golden and warm on our faces ,walking through Dam square, seeing the carvinal going on full speed, people eating an laughing and going on the rides. Music playing, bikes rushing by en mass, buses and trolleys thundering past. The dam monument is packed with people sitting and talking, exchanging pleasantries of the day. And straight ahead the Nes, pool, Pot and party await.

In the door we all come.. and there he is DC, king of the Nes.!! We all snag the big table in front by the window, drop our gear and start ordering drinks, a Cassie's for me of course.! Then everyone starts pulling out bags of weed and Hash. Isolator, Terminator, Gunpowder etc. Vapo bags start showing up and people are rolling killer mixed joints and passing them around. At one time I had a joint in each hand and was getting a Vapo hit at the same time...Insane! The music was jammin and so's the crowd. Some good pool players too. No, I didn't play but I watched a bit, Yes I used to play but not any more. This place was packed with partiers & locals alike , a place that really parties but that you can still feel safe there, DC takes care of it wonderfully. I've always felt very welcome here!

At around 10:30 I was pretty much done in, but everyone else was still going strong, so I made my farewells to all and started walking towards my crash. Burr, it's turned cold, so I bundle up with hat and scarf and walk as quickly as I can manage to my door , But as I'm inserting the key in the lock I hear 'Y' calling to me. She's sitting in the green House Lounge with a table of people and waves me in! So what the hell! The brisk walk has broken the buzz from the Nes, so I'm cool to party a wee bit more.

I drooped my gear next to Y & have a seat. It's nice and warm in here, lovely, so off comes the hat and coat too. I order a hot chocolate, very good! And go up to the bud tender and get some Asian Ice, a totally ass kicking smoke. This is my second time to buy this weed and I must say it's much better in the evening. It's a bit strong for the morning or for running around, that is just my opinion though. The main thing is that it is a super weed, with a rock um, sock um buzz. I and Y are soooo buzzed that about 12:00 or so I'm ready to go to bed, so I gather my stuff, gather Y & Y's stuff and stagger us out the door. I'm so freaking glad that we live just up stairs. I'm not sure I cold have traveled very far! So up the stairs, get Y in her door and safely lying down, then up to my room, and down for the night. No TV, no music, no snacks, no smoke just I just crashed. :!: :!:

Thank you Hestia for sharing your 420 experiences.

Looking forward to reading more, especially if you include your Queen's Day experiences.
