Smoking is not a problem in either hotel. I planned on staying there next week, but plans changed since I am going solo. The Old Quarter is the better location IMO. Only a few steps from Hunters :D

Peace,

Stayed in the Old Quarter earlier this month , room 4 (watch the dip in the floor), was big enough for me , windows opened , fag/joints butts all over the floor outside & an ashtray on the table :) put a damp towel by the door just in case but I was up till the early hours smoking away , no-one even mentioned it , I had put on my e-mail tht I wanted a smoking room if poss , don't know if tht helped or not .

Slept through most of brekkie so sod knows what thts like  , but i'll def recommend there apple pie & cream , bloody delicious , have fun :)

the Old Nickle is ok, and smoke friendly. Their breakfast is ok, and the bar downstairs has a good belgian selection, and some unique company. My bar of choice last time in A-dam.

The rooms are a little pricier for short stays, they fancy their location to Centraal a premium.

i've stayed in the Nickel a couple of times and never had any complaints. They do have some 4 and 5 bed rooms which have en suite in the annex building which is a few doors down opposite a coffeeshop called Happy Times or something. The main hotel is all shared amenities I believe. Let's be honest of course you'd rather have your own bathroom but if you can get over that all in all it's an excellent hotel all things considered. Plus anything that is within walking distance of 11 PM vanilla milkshakes from Coffeshop36 and a Wok to Walk is ok in my books. :D

Regarding the pic, take out the sink/furniture, add some shelving, and you would have the room closet in the last hotel I stayed in.

Hope you didn't pay more than 40e per night? What, no bathroom? Fuck it, piss in the sink. :o

Hope that pink plastic cup was wrapped.
What's that box hanging in the top-left corner, a TV?

If it works for you, that's all that matters. (two thumbs up)
One of the reasons I refuse to pay more than 120e per night w/breakfast is that the only thing I will be doing is using the bathroom and sleeping, if the misses isn't there that is.

Twichaldinho,
I wouldn't bring the misses to a place like this, I'm too much of a condescending prick. Wow, didn't take long for someone (you?) to jump the gun, get all judgmental. Giving a little stick about an economy room isn't blasphemy, so chill out. I could have gone on to remark about the two-tone paint scheme. What is that, custard yellow and whipped cream white? What about those curtains, the material looks like it came from the reject pile at the local Salvation Army. The painting - obviously paint by numbers. To add insult to injury, it was probably nicked from the same local Salvation Army. Love what they did for the lighting - cute small plastic ball looking thing hanging over the sink. No worries, the brightness of the whipped cream white paint will brighten up even the dullest rooms. Just look at the pic, no lights on and the curtains are mostly closed and yet the room is bright. By the looks of where the bed is in relation to the wall, the hotel should have a size restriction for the room - No one over three feet wide. Shall I continue with my condescending opinion?

Last question: If I were blind, would it really matter to me what the room looked like? No, it wouldn't. So why the fuck should it matter at all? It doesn't, just giving a little stick. Chill out. End of rant.

I wouldn't take my misses here either :) be to much of a bitch getting her wheelchair up those stairs :) when I finally get her there it will have to be either a v decent hotel with a lift or more than likely a groundlevel apartment :)

To be honest Ronald, I could have quoted 90% of yer posts, from any thread, and my point would be valid. I am sorry if I got yer back up, but yer attitiude towards other posters gets right on my tits. By all means keep posting, I would never tell you not to. I, however, will be ignoring them from now on.
Its sunny in Scotland today, and I shall not be wasting my time in here.

Peace  ( Yes, that is a rolling eye smiley, here is another  )
