Ticket Machines

Post by aelag »

Hi All,

I believe that somebody once mentioned how the automatic machines on the trams are not in use anymore and you have to 'use' the inspector. Is this true? How exactly does the tram system work? Sorry for those who've answered the question a million times. Replies would be greatly appreciated.

You either have a pass, a stirppin card (bought in news agents and AH) or you're gonna pay. If you have a pass or card you can get on both the front and side 'entrance' door, the driver or inspector (in a booth) will check your pass or stamp your card for the required journey. If you're paying, then get on using the side door and pay the inspector. 8)

This site may help you to understand the Dutch public transport system and how it works:

On the right side of the page, are internal links to other transport info of the GVB. Peace.
